AN: Here's chapter 8. Enjoy people and stay safe!

Lilas POV:

The next day, I decided to go to the library. I wore a black shirt, dark hoodie and black ripped jeans with my trainers. I ate a small breakfast before leaving the Orphanage.

You'll have to run soon, my conscience whispered, you have to get as far away as possible from there and him.

I pushed the dark memories that threatened to resurface at the mention of him.

Opening the door to the library, I was greeted with the scent of books. I grinned; this was one place I could truly be myself and forget about the past.

Running my hand on the spines of the tomes, I paused at Harry Potter, my favourite. Grinning slightly, I pulled it off the shelf and plopped onto a beanbag before losing myself in the pages.

After about half an hour, I heard a voice say, "Excuse me?"

Looking up, I saw Drake. Wow. Is he stalking me or something?

"Yes?" I said, trying not to sound impatient- I really wanted to get back to my book.

"Hi. I was just around here, and I saw you, so I came over here to say hi..." he trailed off and seemed like he was debating whether or not to tell me something. He sat down on a wooden chair next to me, and I mentally sighed. Looks like Harry Potter will have to wait.

"So, Lila," he started, "how old are you?"

"Fourteen, nearly fifteen," I said cautiously, scooting slightly away from him.

Drake began smiling, "Cool."

Cue the awkward silence.

Drakes POV:

"Listen, not to be rude," she started, "but, what are you doing here?"

I frowned, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, why are you here, talking to me?"

I exhaled, "you remind me of someone I knew a long time ago."

I looked into her ocean blue eyes, the ones I'm sure I looked at 14 years ago. She looked back at her book, and I beamed slightly, our mother used to love reading too. However, I knew that Lila was hiding something. They say that the eyes were the windows to the soul, and my sister's eyes were saying that she's holding the weight of the sky on her shoulders.

Hold up, my mind said, let's not get carried away, here. It may not be her.

"The library's closing now," a petite woman with dark brown hair and eyes was clutching a book and wearing a disgusted countenance. Lila looked up, barely containing the annoyance that flickered across her face.

"Okay," Lila said, practically shoving the book in the librarian's hand, "See you next time." She stalked off with me following close behind.

"What was that?" I asked casually.

"That was Olivia, she made my life Hell a few years ago," Lila suddenly smirked, "until I turned the tables."

Yep, she's definitely our sister.

"Do you want a ride?" I asked, "I'm anyways heading to the Orphanage for some business."

Lila shrugged, "Eh, why not?" She paused, "What did you do to Mr Wilks?"

I shrugged, "I have no idea what you're talking about." I winked at her, and the hint of a smile appeared on her face.

When we reached, Lila thanked me and went inside the Orphanage, with me just behind her. I went to the office and greeted the new owner, who happened to work for us.

"Mr Vincenti," she said, "to what do I owe this pleasure?"

I sat opposite her, "I want to adopt a kid. More specifically, Lila."

Adaline sighed, she knew about the incident, "With all due respect, that sounds like a bad idea-"

"Don't tell me what to do; just do what I asked you, please," I snapped.

Adaline nodded, "As you wish," she got some forms which I had to sign and then told me to pick her up tomorrow.

I just hope this doesn't turn out to be the biggest mistake of my life.

THE NEXT DAY:

Lilas POV:

I awoke earlier than usual, an odd feeling settling in the pit of my stomach. Something was going to happen today, and I didn't know if it was bad or good.

"Lila? Could you please come here?" I heard Adaline call. After Mr Woods... left, Adaline was the new owner. She was nice and smart- all the children adored her.

"Yes? Adaline?" I said, my hood was covering my face.

"Someone wants to adopt you," Adaline was blunt and straight to the point.

"Already?" My eyebrows furrowed; normally, it would take a while before I'm adopted. I haven't even been here a full week.

Adaline smiled and nodded.

Still confused, I went and packed my things. I had enough to fit into a backpack. I placed my gun in the waistband of my jeans and put my necklace on; the baby tag was safe in the front pocket.

"Lila?" Zoe entered the room, "where are you going?"

I turned to her with sad eyes, "I've gotten adopted, Zoe."

"Oh," Zoe looked down, her bottom lip trembling, "Will I see you again?"

"I don't know, Tesoro," I crouched down to her height, "but I pinky promise that I'll try." (Darling/ Treasure).

Zoe smiled, and I felt that we both knew this was the last time we may see each other. Suddenly, she flung her arms around me and said, "Stay safe, Lila." Before bounding away.

I watched her go with a heavy heart. The only people I'd let slip past my walls this far were-

Don't.

Shaking, I pulled away from those thoughts. I re-enforced my walls, making them stronger than they'd ever been, before going downstairs to meet my new foster family.

"Drake?"
