Lila's POV:

The next morning I awoke at 5am and reluctantly got out of bed, not looking forward to having to explain about my nightmare. Thankfully, they didn't see my bruises- that would have been hard to explain.

I traipsed downstairs, trying to think of viable excuses for last night. However, I came up with nothing. Nobody was downstairs so I decided to make breakfast for everyone- to say thank you. I made pancakes, French toast and chopped up some fruit before pouring out some orange juice. I laid the table and went on my phone while I waited. At 7am, Drake came down first, dressed in jeans and a shirt.

"Good morning, Lila," Drake said softly. See, this is why I don't tell people about my past. I don't want them to look at me with pity or treat me like a China doll.

"Morning!" I smiled back, "I made breakfast."

"I smell pancakes!" Olly burst into the room. He plonked on the table and began shovelling the food in his mouth, moaning in delight, "Oh my God this is so good! Who made it?"

"Lila did," Drake looked amused and faintly disgusted at Olly.

"Well, looks like you've got competition, Drake!" Olly said.

One by one, the brothers trickled in. They each had the same or similar reactions to Olly. Apart from Xander who just said 'good' and moved on. Once they were all settled, I took my usual spot on the floor and began eating.

"Sit here, sorella," Vito patted the space next to him and Xander but I quickly said that I was done.

I picked up the others plates and washed and dried them carefully before putting them back where I got them. I turned around and saw my brothers were staring at me.

"Have I got something on my face?" I asked.

"You don't need to wash our dishes, Teresoro, we do that ourselves later on," Vito said.

"Oh," in the past, I had to clean the house and wash the dishes for my 'parents.' It was ingrained in my brain after my first bad foster home, "it's fine, I did chores at my old houses so I guess it's a habit."

They seemed to believe me, apart from Alessandro who had a faint frown on his face.

"Well, I'm gonna go and do... stuff," I tried running but Drake grabbed me around the waist and lifted me up.

"No, you're not going anywhere until you explain what happened last night. We just want to help you, Lila." Uh-oh, first name. That means he's serious.

Knowing I was not going to get out of this, I huffed and relaxed slightly, allowing him to carry me to the living room. The rest of my brothers followed behind like lost puppies. Drake plopped on the couch and pulled me into his lap, locking his arms around my waist so I couldn't run away. Olly sat on my right and Axel on the left. Xander leaned against the wall, looking attentive for once and Vito mimicked his position. Alessandro remained standing.

"Well?" Xander asked impatiently.

I sighed, "I won't tell you everything. There are some parts too personal and I would rather forget it- just let me finish please," I said, seeing Xander open his mouth to interrupt, "maybe I'll tell you one day, but not today."
"So, where would you like me to start?"

"Last night," Olly said immediately, "what were you dreaming about?"

I bit my lower lip, "A lot of stuff has happened in my past. I was dreaming about people I knew, most of them are dead. Others," I hesitated, "you don't want to know."

Xander snapped, "but we do want to know! That's why we're asking!" He shouted, his hands in fists.

I flinched. Normally, I'd come up with some sassy comeback and put him in his place. However, I was still recovering from the nightmare.

So I did the one thing I was good at: running. I sprinted out of the room- the others too shocked and busy shouting at Xander to come after me. I heard someone faintly calling my name but I couldn't hear them over the blood roaring in my ears.

Flashbacks:
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" He screamed, throwing the glass bottle at me, narrowly missing.
"YOU STUPID GIRL!" She yelled, slapping me. I stumbled back, my head hitting edge of the counter.
"You should do the world a favour and just die!" They smirked, towering over me before slamming me into the lockers and laughing.
Stupid.
Worthless.
All my fault.
I was tired.
Tired of being treated like this.
I had been running for a while now (figuratively and literally). My eyes filled with tears but I refused to let them fall- I had to be strong. I barged into a room without seeing which one it was and, when I did, I gasped and smiled.
