AN: Welcome to chapter 4! I hope you enjoy it! Disclaimer: I have no clue how gangs actually work, so I'm going with a completely made up version that suits this story!
Lilas POV:
I awoke at 5 am. That may seem early, but my past experiences have taught me to wake at this time. I got ready and crept past the rooms, careful not to wake up the others and silently made my way to the kitchen. I quickly made some breakfast and munched on my cereal and contemplated life. The last time I was here, I was a happy, carefree little girl, and now... I was cold, dark and in a gang. Fate is strange, sometimes.
Suddenly, I heard the door creak open, and footsteps pad softly on the carpeted hallway. Putting my hand on my gun, I readied myself for any attackers. I heard the quiet click of a lock being picked and the gentle swish of people walking.
"Boys!" I heard a jovial yet nervous voice whisper, "to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"You know why, Shane," a weirdly familiar voice replied dangerously, "a little birdie told us that you haven't been paying what you owe us."
"I just need a little more time," with a shock, I realised that 'Shane' was Mr Wilks. I'd come to realise that he wasn't a very nice man. He was greedy, arrogant and couldn't care less for the welfare of the children.
"You're out of time," another voice said with barely suppressed glee, "and you know what happens next." I heard a gun cock.
Normally, I wouldn't have cared what happened to someone. Call me heartless, but I don't like getting into other people's business. However, something was telling me to go and save Mr Wilks.
I hurriedly darted to the room and entered. I was greeted with the sight of Mr Wilks practically on his knees, begging for mercy in front of two men. One of them had a cheerful aura, dirty blonde hair and kind green eyes and was wearing an immaculate suit. The second one exuded a dark aura, had the dangerous green eyes and wore clothes that wouldn't look out of place in a rock band. They both had their guns trained on the man in front but looked at me when they entered.
"Excuse me? Could you guys not murder him," I said, trying to sound nonchalant. I leaned against the doorframe and folded my arms.
"Little girl," Mr Wilks spat, "run along now and let the grown ups talk. This business doesn't concern you."
"Oh, I may know more than you think," I lifted my leather jacket to reveal my gun and a small part of my tattoo- enough to symbolise that I was in a gang, but not enough for them to know which one. The two new men straightened and nodded in understanding, "now, if you don't mind, kindly tell me what's going on?"
Green eyes #1 was about to reply but was cut off by a little girl entering the room.
"Lila," Zoe spoke with a slight lisp, "what's happening?"
Thankfully, the men had hidden their guns- so it was easier for me to explain, "It's nothing, darling. Why don't you have breakfast and then we can go to the park with the others?"
Zoe grinned toothily and skipped away; I smiled nostalgically, reminiscing the time I was that young.Drakes POV:
There's something very familiar about the girl in front of me, though I can't put my finger on why. I looked over and caught Vito's eye- he was thinking the same thing.
It was still quite dark outside, so I couldn't see the new arrival's face, just that she had black hair and a gun.
"What's you name?" I asked.
"Why should I tell you?" Mystery Girl shot back.
I grinned slightly, "Okay, let me introduce ourselves. I'm Drake and this is Vito."
"Still don't trust you," Mystery Girl retorted, "why are you going to- not so fast." MG pulled out her gun and pointed it at the pig. While we'd been distracted, he'd been trying to reach for a knife strapped to Vito's shin.
The pig whimpered. Pathetic.
"He hasn't been paying what he owes us," I snarled, "and, he's been using this Orphanage as a front for illegal drug dealing."
MG's jaw tightened, "he what?"
Pig decided to speak, "I don't see why you should care. It's just a silly orphanage for stupid kids."
The next second, three guns and a knife were pressed against him, effectively shutting him up.
"Okay, I see your point," MG admitted, "but kill him somewhere else. There are children here."
I nodded and smiled, "Yes miss."
I couldn't see in the dark but I'm quite sure she rolled her eyes.
"Not that it's any of my business," Mysterious Girl started hesitantly, "but, why do you care about this place?"
Me and Vito stopped in our tracks. I turned slowly to face her, "it's the last place our sister was." Before dragging Pig and walking into the morning.
