Chapter 13

Knebworth, Queens last concert:

Me and Freddie met the rest of the boys in London where we were getting on a helicopter. We had a group hug before getting into the helicopter. Freddie's parents were taking the kids later on by car to see the concert.

"How's the kids?" John asked

"Their fine. I mean Dafnes still shook from what Paul did" I replied

"That was a couple of years ago though" Roger said

"When something like that happens no one forgets. I still remember when Paul broke my ankle" I said

Roger turned to look out of the window.

"How longs the journey?" Freddie asked

"Half an hour or something. Probably not even that" Brian replied "Maybe fifteen minutes"

Before we knew it we had landed. Freddie was the first to get out and I followed. We then turned to the guys to watch Deaky get scared of the blades. He looked up before ducking and running towards us.

"Deaky It's only a helicopter" Roger teased

"Some people have fears. Just because you don't have any doesn't mean other people don't" Deaky said

We walked off towards the venue. I helped with sound check while the guys got themselves ready. I got the chance to dance around the stage like Freddie. While I was on stage I noticed the kids with Freddie's parents. I gave a thumbs up to the sound guy before leaving the stage. I picked up Dafne while Jade hugged me round the legs.

"We will have fun at this concert. Won't we?" I said

Dafne nodded while Jade replied. I grabbed Jades hand and brought the two to see their dad before the concert. We stopped outside the room as Freddie warmed up. He started going up the scale but stopped before the last note then causing Roger, who was stood next to me, to carry on. Roger then stepped into the room and the two began doing the ay-ohs. I then took the kids in who ran into their fathers arms.

"You've gotten so big. Have you grown at all during this last day" Freddie said

"No" Dafne replied as he held one kid in each arm

Freddie giggled as Roger took hold of Jade. Before we knew it it was time for the concert, I kept the kids backstage for the best view. They both got excited to see their dad perform for the first time, but what we didn't know is that it would be that last.

Halfway through the show they performed Radio gaga. At the end Deaky took his bass from his shoulder and threw it at his amp. I jumped up in shock and sparks flew from the amp. I held the kids back just in case but Queen being Queen they carried on. I sat back down as Dafne got onto my lap. At the end of the concert Deaky stormed off past us.

"Deaky" I shouted running after him

He didn't stop so I set off running and grabbed onto his hand.

"Deaky are you okay?" I asked

John looked to the ground as a tear left his eye. I wrapped my arms around him and held him tight.

"I don't know what's wrong with me" Deaky said

"Don't say anything. I'm here" I said

The others then came over and joined in on the hug.

"Deaks It's fine. You don't have to worry" Brian said

3 years later:

It was the beginning of 1991 and Freddie's health had decreased a lot but it didn't stop him recording. It was the making of the music video I'm going slightly mad. The four of them were sat on a sofa with penguins. I began talking to the director and when I looked up the penguin that was sat between Roger and Freddie had gone to the toilet, producing a white substance which flowed down the front of the sofa. The two stood up, Freddie checking his trousers.

"Roger what did you do!" Freddie said causing Roger to roll his eyes
