My beloved father,
I grieve for mother. I'm sad to hear that she and the baby have passed on. I'm happy to hear that you and Nancy are doing well. I miss you both with all my heart. I would come home if I could, however, my love for you has been what leads me to stay. Do not worry, at the end of the year I will be home. You and I will be able to farm in peace. The redcoats will be gone by then, ginving us our freedom we deserve. I fight for you and Nancy, and I fight for my mother.
Yours forever,
James Cadey
