To my dearest family,
If you are receiveing this letter it means that I'm gone. I left and signed up for the army. I'm staying at Valley Forge. I wanted to be part of something great. I have fallen ill from the cold. I wish for you to help the remaining soliders as much as you can. They are in need of food and blankets. I want to let you know, I love you all very much.
Your beloved daughter,
Elizabeth Taylor
