Cupid: The guardian?

Chapter 5

Jack's POV

I don't know where I am going but I know I have to find Cupid before Twilight does.

I fly around everywhere looking for Cupid.

I am about to give up when I remember Mary and Daniel.

I fly to the town they live in and see them in the park.

I land in front of them and they jump.

"Jack? What are you doing here?" Mary asks.

She looks mad.

"Where's Cupid?" I ask them.

"We aren't telling you. Not after what you did to her." Daniel says as he glares at me.

I sigh.

"Guys, she is in trouble. Someone is after her." I tell them.

They look at each other then back at me.

"Who?" Mary asks me.

"Her name is Twilight. She is the spirit of the night." I say.

They start whispering something to each other.

"Look, if you're not going to help me, I'll find her myself." I say.

I am about to fly away when someone grabs my arm.

"But you said you would never let anything hurt me." I hear Cupid say.

I turn around and see her standing a few feet away.

"And I won't." I say.

She smiles and walks over to me.

"Why did you say those things Jack?" Cupid asks me.

I sigh and look at my staff.

"In my dream I had to make you hate me so I wouldn't hurt you. Because I got turned evil." I explain.

She smiles and hugs me.

"Well, you aren't evil so I don't hate you." She says.

I smile and look at her.

"Look, you're not safe here. But if we leave, Mary and Danny won't be safe." I say.

Cupid looks at me confused.

"What I'm saying is, Would you rather have yourself be safe or be able to protect them?" I ask.

She takes no time to think.

"We will not let them get hurt Jack. Ever." I smile and look at Mary and Daniel.

Cupid's POV

I look at Jack who is grinning.

"I didn't think so." he said.

He puts his arm on my shoulder and I feel my heart flutter.

Mary looks at me and winks.

I laugh.

"What is it that I'm not getting?" Jack asks.

"Oh, nothing." I say.

He just crosses his arms and pouts.

I laugh and ruffle his hair.

I see him smile and his face looks pink.

"So, what do we do?" Daniel asks.

Suddenly Jack falls to the ground and I feel the temperature rise way up.
