Harry was cheating on me. He admitted it. I'd trusted him and he had thrown it back in my face. As soon as he had said it, I hung up the call and stormed out of Anne's house, ignoring her frantic calls. Tears were falling down my face as I got in the car, slamming the door and starting the engine. As I drove, I couldn't face going back home. I didn't want to be reminded of Harry. I drove to Liam's flat, parking the car and banging on the door. Finally, Maya answered, and she took one look at my face and pulled me inside. "I thought you were with Liam?" she asked, making me a cup of tea whilst I sat at the table and cried.
"I was, but then I went to Anne's to see if she knew anything and left Liam and Zayn helping Niall," I explained through my tears. She nodded, sitting down next to me and handing me the mug.
"Then why come here if you knew Liam wasn't here?"
"I didn't want to go back home, and I knew you'd give could advice," I admitted, attempting to wipe my tears away with my sleeve. Maya grabbed a tissue before asking me to tell her what was going on.
"We phoned Harry and I asked if he was cheating. He... he said yes. He's fucking cheating, Maya!"
"Oh, Louis, I'm so sorry," she said, putting her hand on my leg and squeezing slightly.
"I don't know what to do, how could he do this?"
"It doesn't sound like Harry at all. Are you sure he said he cheated?" I nodded, tears streaming down my face once again. "Listen, you stay here. I'm going to phone Liam and tell them all to come back, okay?" I nodded again, laying down on the sofa and closing my eyes.
"He looks so broken."
"I can't believe Harry would do this."
"I'm going to kill him."
"Boys, please calm down. Louis needs us right now." Maya's voice was soft, and I opened my eyes to see the four of them looking down on me. Zayn was angry. Niall was confused. Liam was shocked. Once Zayn noticed I was awake, he crouched down and pulled me into a hug, holding me until I couldn't breathe.
"I'm so sorry, Louis," he said, pulling away and sitting next to me. I smiled weakly, and Niall and Liam sat down on the other sofa.
"I'll leave you boys to it," Maya said, turning around to leave the room.
"Maya? Please stay," I croaked, causing her to turn back around and sit next to Liam. We talked about what Harry had said and what I should do next. It was a Sunday evening and we all had to work the next day but figuring this out was important. We decided that I should leave Harry alone for a few days, giving myself time to come to terms with it. If he calls, I should ignore it. Liam was going to try to speak to him and understand what happened. As we all stood up to leave, the boys pulled me into a group hug, telling me they loved me and that it would be okay. Niall drove my car home as I was in no state to drive, dropping Zayn off first before going back to our house. I went straight upstairs, running to the bathroom and locking the door. I found the razor that I had hidden in the bottom draw and pressed it to my skin. The cold blade felt weird against my wrist, but I forced myself to press harder. Up until this point, my tablets had been working but I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to be in control of my pain. As the blood trickled out of my fresh would, I covered it with a wet flannel. It stung but I closed my eyes, wishing that Harry were here to save me.
I woke up on the bathroom floor, wearing the same clothes as the day before. I stood up, looking at myself in the mirror. I was pale and my eyes were bloodshot. I had dark circles around my eyes and my wrist was a little sore. I grabbed a bandage from the first aid box and wrapped my wrist in it before covering my face with cold water. I went back to the bedroom and changed into my work clothes that consisted of black jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. By the time I got downstairs, Niall had already left so I grabbed my keys and left the house.
The day went so slowly, and for May the weather was terrible. The children all noticed that I wasn't myself, asking lots of questions. I refused to answer any of them, and instead of being the fun teacher I became the grumpy one who threatens detention every five minutes. I stayed behind once the children had left to finish some marking. I needed something to distract myself and this mind-numbing task needed to be done. I sat at my desk, reading the same type of essay thirty times until I had finished. I packed up my things and headed for the car. Instead of driving home, I just sat there. The rain fell around me, and I watched as the drops fell down the windscreen, leaving a trail behind them. I rested my head against the seat, closing my eyes and letting the sound of the rain send me to sleep.
By the time I woke up, it was dark. I had a few missed calls from Niall, so I text him to say that I was on my way home. I put the car into gear and pulled out of the carpark, the rain still lashing down. As I drove, I thought about Harry. How could he do this? I thought he loved me. As I turned the steering wheel to go around a corner, I hit a puddle of water and the car began to skid. I tried to take back control, but I couldn't. Before I knew it, I was being flipped upside down, the glass smashing as I screamed. My head bounced backwards and forwards, and I squeezed my eyes closed. When I opened them again, the car wasn't moving anymore. I could hear and feel the rain pouring around me. I tried to get out, but the car was on its side and I didn't have the strength. I managed to reach into my pocket to find my phone, the screen was cracked but it was the least of my worries. My head was really beginning to hurt, and I knew my legs were strapped under the steering wheel. Without a second thought, I pressed on the curly haired lad's name, hoping to speak to him just one more time.
"Harry?" I croaked, the moment he answered.
"What do you want, Louis?" he sighed, "I can't really talk to you right now."
"Car... crash," I managed to squeak, my head throbbing and my vision getting fuzzy. I heard another car pull up and saw the lights flashing in my direction. A lady came running over, already on the phone to the emergency services.
"What are you talking about?" Harry asked, his tone showing how annoyed he was that I called.
"I... crashed," I said quietly.
"What? Are you okay? Louis?"
"It... hurts.... head," I answered. The woman ran up to my side and started to ask me lots of questions, but all I could answer was my name.
"Louis? Louis, are you still there? I need you to talk to me!" Harry shouted, the panic evident in his voice. My eyes started to close as a wave of pain coursed through my head and neck. "Louis, please, don't leave me. I'm sorry!" he sobbed in my ear.
"Love you, Haz," I mumbled, before I dropped the phone and let the darkness takeover.
LOUIS! Hopefully he'll be okay!
