It's just a regular night for both Cole and Kai. Cuddling each other lovely as any couple would do, except...

The younger one is struggling not to weep harshly so his boyfriend wouldn't wake up from his stupid emotions playing.

"Shut up! You piece of shit, god you're so annoying,"

The husband of the caretaker in the orphanage apparently had anger issues, which was released on Kai sadly. Initially, his target is on his little sisters and the other younger child. Kai being the big brother he was , he stood up to him. Insisting to the old man that if he wanted to take out all his anger from, picked him instead.

Leading to couple years of torture , mentally, physically

Even though it's been years since those horrible beatings he had received，nightmares still haunted him whenever he had begun to forget that misfortune in the past.

Cole suddenly let out a whine, probably because of his trembling boyfriend in his chest. Kai knew the longer he stayed, the higher risk of waking up Cole. Thus, he slowly got up , and replaced his place with a pillow.

'That should do it' he thought

He tip-toe gently, avoiding creaking sound of the wooden floor and finally, the bathroom.

White light, closed door,personal space.

He sighed, the tears he threatened not to spill had disobey his orders. He couldn't care less though because it's safe now as he finally let out the sobs he choked.

He drew down his pants a little, looking at his thighs. Both of his thighs were covered in battle scars. It's been a long time since he yearned for the blood and pain, overflowing his soul and body.

So ugly

Seeing the scars again was not a good idea, it just brought back even more painful memories. He pulled it back up and curled up,hugging both of his knees and cried and cried. Sometimes he wondered , why would someone as amazing as Cole would ever love him ?

"Kai? Are you in there," yawning, Cole knocked on the doors. Kai jolted at the sudden sound, he sniffled and try to act like everything is fine.

"Y-yeah! I-I-I'll be o-out there for a-a sec!" Damn he hated how weak he must have sounded.

Cole sensed that something is definitely not right . He frowned, not caring a damn fuck about the door being broke , he barged in.
(his muscles is strong enough to break a door without using his elemental power)

"C-Cole?!"

I knew it  Cole ignored the protests Kai's making and scooped him up. He then carried him back to their lovely nest . Kai dared not to look straight at his boyfriend's eyes but Cole made him faced in front of him.

It hurted Cole to see his boyfriend so vulnerable like this ,but at the same time he was glad that he's the only one who could see this side of Kai. (excluding his sister but he doubted Nya had seen it)

Cole used his sleeves to rub away his tears gently , Kai almost nuzzled at the warm touch he felt.

"Nightmares?"

"Em hmp,"

Like a scared child , he snuggled into Cole's chest to hide the fact he had cried again. Cole knew his background story of the sickening abusing bastard back in his childhood.

Cole laid both of them down to bed and started to whisper nothing but sweet words to Kai.

"He's not here anymore,"

"No one's going to hurt you or any of us,"

"I'll protect you,"

"I love you,"

I love you

Drifting and drifting, both of the young love fell asleep in each other's arms.
