"Oomph" I moan, tumbling onto the soft grass beneath me. It's been so long since I fell over.

A loud cackle comes from above me as I desperately try to process what just happened. Why was someone laughing if they just knocked me over? Rude much.

"Aren't you going to apologise?" I question angrily, picking up my books that had scattered all over the ground.

"Nope"

Of course, I could recognise that thick accent anywhere.

"We need to stop meeting like this, Reu," I giggled, stuffing the remainder of the books in my bag and standing up so that I was facing the boy who had just knocked me over. My eyes locked on his tight blue cotton shirt and low black chinos, I couldn't help but think that he looked extremely attractive today.

I watched as his gaze moved from my lips to my eyes and back to my lips again as he searched my face. I had no idea why, but I suddenly felt slightly insecure as I ducked my head in shame. Nobody ever looked at me like that, and it felt weird.

"So" He shoved his hands in his pockets and smiled sweetly, "want to go to the tree?"

It was such a random questioned and I found myself giggling at the thought. He was just so adorable sometimes.

"Sure" I managed to say through my giggles, knowing my face was probably bright red.

He looked up at me for a second, a small smile spread across his lips. I wondered what it would be like to kiss him. He was so attractive.

"C'mon!" He yelled, running in the opposite direction towards the hill.

I started chasing him, my breathing coming in quick gasps. "Wait! Where are you going?"

"Where do you think? To the oak tree of course!"

"What about you? What's the best thing that's ever happened to you before?"

It had been an hour since we had sat under the tree, and in that short amount of time we'd already gotten to know each other. It was strange, really, it was almost like I was another person. I was no longer the sad, depressed girl that sat under the oak tree alone any more. I was more loud, more fun, even.

"Nothing" I tease, knotting the pieces of grass in my hand.

"Oh come on, there's gotta be something exciting that's happened to you before."

I scrunch my nose up as I pretended like I'm deep in thought, desperately trying to come up with anything that would answer his question. But when I actually start to think, theres nothing. I can't think of a single thing that's exciting.

"When I was six my dad bought me a puppy?" I questioned, looking up at him with hopeful eyes.

"What was his name?" Reuben asked. Surprisingly he seemed excited.

That was something really cute about him. Even the smallest of things seemed to amaze him.

"His name was Toby, and he was the most gorgeous dog I've ever seen." I smile, lying down so that my back was resting on the grass. Reuben laid in the same position as me, his face barely centimetres from mine. I couldn't help but go red in the cheeks, I'd never been this close to anyone in ages.

"Your dad must be pretty cool if he bought you a puppy."

"Far from it actually." I sigh, not even realising I had said it out loud.

"What? Why?"

"Huh? Oh don't worry I'm just being stupid." I say, desperately trying to cover up my mistake. Stupid Jessy, always saying things without thinking.
