Mal Morgana was in her bedroom in her mother's house. More like mansion, but she didn't care.
(Mal's mom's house)
(Mal's bedroom)
She was drawing in her sketch pad, as that was what she always did whenever she was bored. She had gotten home from school a few hours ago and had already finished her homework, so there was nothing that she had to do.
Except wait for her mom to get home. Which she never did until late. And that was when she got one of her mother's famous phone calls.
"Hello?"
"Mal, I'm gonna be home late again. So if you just wanna order a pizza for dinner, you can go ahead and do that. I left some money on the kitchen counter."
"Ok, thanks mom."
She didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to her mother before she just hung up on her. She sighed as she went down to the kitchen spotting the money her mother had left her on the counter as she called the pizza place and ordered herself a pizza.
And after she had done so, she went into the living room and turned on the tv. She watched one of the shows she had been watching recently before the doorbell rang, meaning it was the pizza delivery dude out there. So she grabbed the money before opening the door, taking the pizza, and giving the guy the money and shut the door again.
This was her usual routine. It was nothing new. She had been used to it for the longest time. Her mother never came home early, it was always late. She was lucky if she saw her before she went to bed. Which that only happened on weekends, sometimes not even that. Her mother, was a workaholic, and never paid her any attention for more than a second. And it honestly wasn't even fair.
She and her mother used to be close, but that was only until she was four years old. Then they grew farther and farther apart. Mal stayed up until 12:30, and her mother still wasn't home. So she got herself ready for bed, and then went to sleep.

The next morning, Mal woke up and she did her usual morning routine. Got up, got dressed, brushed her teeth, brushed her hair and went downstairs to the kitchen to find breakfast. She found a note on the island from her mother that said, "had to leave early for work, be back late again." Mal crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. She was tired of it. Tired of her mother always ignoring her, tired of never seeing her.
