Evie had been completely silent the whole way back to Auradon Prep. She had her head leaning against the window as she continued to silently sob. She missed Mal so much. Watching her die right next to her, watching her take her last breath, hearing her heart stop beating. She didn't know how she would be able to move on without her.

Mal saved her life. She was the reason she was even alive. Mal shouldn't have died, she didn't deserve it. She felt Henry's car come to stop, and he helped her get out.

"Are you gonna be okay?" He asked her as they walked inside the school together.

"I don't know." She answered honestly trying to wipe away her tears. "Mal and I got so close. I don't know if I will ever move on."

"Well, I just want you to know I'm here for you, whenever you need me." Henry told her.

Evie gave him a small smile as she hugged him before going into her dorm. She glanced around, looking at Mal's side. She saw how her stuff was still there. She couldn't keep herself from crying again as she went over to Mal's bed and laid down crying into her pillows. She could still smell Mal's strawberry perfume. She sobbed uncontrollably, unable to stop. How was she supposed to go about her normal life as if everything was okay, when it wasn't? She couldn't. It was too hard.

As she continued to cry, she felt something hard under the pillows. So she sat up and moved the pillows and found a small book underneath. She opened it up, and saw it was Mal's diary. She sniffed as she once again wiped at her eyes, and she began to read what Mal had written.

'Dear Diary,

My mom sent me to this horrible boarding school filled to the brim with spoiled rich kids. I share a dorm with this blue-haired girl named, Evie. She seems different from the rest of the people here. In a good way. She wants to get to know me, but I'm still not sure. No one has ever actually been interested in getting to know me before. So why her? I mean, she's kind of nice, there's no way a girl like her could ever want to be friends with someone like me. But that's not really what's too important right now. I've basically been forced to find this businessperson for someone named Donovan McClyde. If I don't, he's probably gonna kill me. And I only have one week to do it. That's plenty of time, right? Well, I guess that's all for today.

Mal'

Evie bit her lip as she read everything that was on the page. So these were Mal's thoughts from her first day in Auradon Prep. It had been the longest, yet shortest week she ever had. But it was the best week too. In the short time she had known Mal and the time she was able to spend with her, she didn't regret a single second.

She hugged Mal's diary to her chest. "You'll always be in my heart. I'll carry you with me, forever." She whispered.

Time continued to pass. Some days went better than others, other days, it was hard. But it was all a part of the healing process. She watched Mal be buried, and she got to say her final goodbyes. And she always visited Mal's grave every week. She would just sit there all day, and have a conversation with her as if Mal was sitting right there, and talking back to her.

Evie kissed the tips of her fingers then placed them on Mal's gravestone. "I love you." She said before she walked away. She smiled a little to herself as she walked back to her car. As she buckled herself, she glanced back at the cemetery. She was gonna okay.

"It took some time for her to heal, and to this day, she's still healing. But she's also in the process of living as happily as she can." Evie finished telling her daughter her story.

"I like that story, mommy." Her daughter.

Evie lightly laughed as she gently kissed her daughter's forehead. "I'm glad. Goodnight sweetheart. I love you." She told her as she got up, about to turn off the light.

"Mommy, wait!" Her daughter called.

"What is it, honey?" She asked.

"Is that story true?"

Evie smiled at her. "Yes, it is. It's about the same girl you're named after, Mal." She said.

Her daughter giggled as she laid back down. "Then I really like that story! Goodnight mommy!"

"Goodnight, Mal!" Evie said as she then turned off the light and closed the door to her daughter's bedroom.

Yes, Evie had named her daughter after Mal. As soon as she had found out she was going to have a little girl, she knew that's what she wanted to do. Evie would never forget Mal. And she would always be in her heart. Forever and always.
