It was the middle of the night. And Mal was just laying on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She had slept for like two hours, but she had just, all of a sudden, woken up, and couldn't go back to sleep.

She could see Evie was still asleep. And why wouldn't she be? It was the middle of the night! Everybody was asleep. Except for Mal. And she couldn't stand it anymore, so she quietly got out of bed, put on her shoes and walked out of the room.

Whenever Mal couldn't sleep, she would always go out for a little walk. It sometimes would help. Not all the time, but she was hoping that it would work this time. It was a little cool out, but it didn't bother her. She had on a sweatshirt, so she was fine. She wasn't exactly sure where she was heading, she was just walking along the pathway, and to wherever it would lead.

She ended up walking for awhile, she wasn't sure how long, probably a good forty-five minutes, she would guess. And the pathway ended at a little pond, that wasn't very big at all. She sat down on a little stone bench, hugging herself and looking at the still waters.

She may have just arrived at Auradon Prep, but she still wasn't so sure if she was gonna fit in. She wanted to somehow find a way out of there. Not that she wanted to go back to her mom, but to just to get out of that school, and into a different school.

As she felt herself start to get tired, Mal stood up and headed back to Auradon Prep. And when she did, she saw three suspicious looking men just standing outside of the school, talking quietly. She tried to just walk right past them, not saying anything. But she was quickly grabbed by the hood of her sweatshirt, and she was held by a tall man, as a one of the other men took a step towards her.

"Are you a student here?" He asked. Mal nodded not saying a word. "Then what are you doing out here?!"

"I couldn't sleep, so I went out for a walk. I'll go back inside now." Mal told him trying to walk away. But the man who had a hold of her, kept his grip on her, firm.

"Not so fast." He said. "My name is, Donovan McClyde. And I'm looking for someone."

"Well, how am I supposed to know who you're looking for?!" Mal asked him.

"I don't even know who I'm looking for!" He said raising his voice. "There's been a rumor going around that a student here, has started their own business, and is making quite a few bucks. And I want it. But the thing is, I'll look kind if suspicious walking around in those halls. And I can't risk getting caught, and getting sent back to jail."

"Well, that's your problem, not mine." Mal said to him.

"I don't think you're getting the point here!" Donovan yelled lifting Mal up by her sweatshirt before dropping her. "Listen, I'm gonna make you a deal. I'm gonna give you one week, to find out who is running the business. And once you do, you will bring them to me, and get me the money. Got that?"

"And what happens if I don't?" Mal asked.

"I have ways of making people listen to me. And ways to make them pay." Donovan told her as he lit up his hand with a magical spark, showing to her that he had magic.

"Yeah? Well, guess what? I do too." Mal said doing the same as Donovan to show him, that she too, had magic.

"Mine, is stronger." He simply told her. "And if you fail, I will not hesitate to end you. I will find you. You can't hide from me. But if you succeed, I will give you 15% of what I am able to steal."

"15%?" Mal asked in shock.

"That is what I said." He replied. "But only if you do exactly as I say. Now remember, you have one week. That is it!"

Mal nodded. "Got it. Now can I go?" Mal asked

"Let her go." Donovan told the man who had been holding Mal.

And he let go of Mal, before she ran back into the building and back to her dorm. She took off her shoes, and climbed back into bed. As she tried to get back to sleep, her mind started filling with the thoughts about what Donovan had told her. Should she do the plan? If she didn't, Donovan would make her pay. So she really had no choice. But would she be able to find whoever had the business in the one week she had been given?

Mal knew one thing, she had to do it. Whether she liked it or not.
