You quickly go up to your room and look at the clock. The time change had messed you up. You thought it was already like 10 pm, but no. It was nearly 5, so you had about an hour to get ready. You plug your almost dead phone in, and get ready to shower. You grab your toiletries that you had brought. They were all in tiny bottles, since you can't bring full size stuff on planes. You would have to go shopping for everything soon. You turn the shower on hot, hoping it can wash away the nerves. Although you hadn't had a bad time here, it still wasn't the same. You missed home, but you couldn't help but be happy for the fresh start. No one here treated you like "The girl with the dead mom". You began to hum to yourself as you washed your hair. You spaced out for a bit, thinking about what you were going to wear to dinner. You knew it wasn't a big deal, but you wanted to make a good first impression, or second. You turn the shower off and wrap a towel around yourself. You walk across the hallway and back into your room. You shut and lock the door, out of habit. You look through the wardrobe, filled with slightly wrinkled clothes. It was a bit chilly, so you wanted to wear something that kept you warm. You settle on jeans, a white crop top, and a yellow corduroy jacket.
Once dressed, you check the time. It's 5:30. All you have to do is put on your shoes, so you have time to check your phone. You lay down in bed and disconnect your charger.

You skip passed Jen's and Anne's, your best friends, messages. You knew it would be too hard to explain. You go straight to Twitter and your mood instantly lifts. Your inbox is filled with encouraging messages. You lose track of time as you respond, and hear Sheryl call from downstairs.
"Y/N? Are you ready?"
You check the time, it is six.
"Yeah! One minute, I have to put my shoes on!"
You quickly find socks and put on the first pair of shoes you find. They were black slip-ons. They didn't match that well, but you would take them off once inside anyway, so it wouldn't really matter. You run down the stairs to see Sheryl carrying something in a tupperware container. She notices you looking at it.
"Oh, I was already ready to go, so I baked some banana bread as a thank you for dinner! Do you think that's ok?"
"Yeah, I'm sure they will appreciate it!"
"Okay, good! Now let's go, I don't want to be late, considering we live less than 50 feet away from them!"
You walk out of the house and head to theirs. Your nerves spike as Sheryl rings the doorbell. Would Tommy open the door? Would he even be here? Do you look okay? Your mind raced, but the door opened too quickly to go any further. It was Tommy. He was wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie, same as earlier. His hair seemed to be a bit neater, though. He had a warm smile on his face as he began to speak.
"Hi guys, nice to see you again Y/N! I am Tommy, by the way! You are Sheryl, right?"
"Yep! I hope you don't mind, but I baked some banana bread as a sort of thank you!"
Sheryl holds the container towards him, and he accepts it.
"Of course we don't mind haha, thank you! Oh, sorry, come in before you freeze!"
He leads you to the kitchen and dining area, where his family is beginning to plate everything. He sets the banana bread and explains to his mother what it is.
"Hi! Glad you two could make it! Take a seat anywhere, we have got it covered! Tommy could you get them some drinks?"
"Uh yeah, what would you guys like?"
He says it a bit awkwardly, but still polite. Sheryl asks for water and you ask for the same. Tommy grabs to glasses and fills them, no ice. You had learned in history that it isn't common for other countries to put ice in water, but you didn't mind. He sets one glass in front of the two of you, but when he turns to help his dad, he knocks over your water. It spills all over the table and your shirt. You both turn to the spill and your cheeks get red. It was really cold as well. You look towards Tommy who is equally, if not more, red than you.
"Oh my gosh, Y/N, I am so sorry! Here let me help!"
He quickly grabs some napkins and tries to wipe up the water, but he's not doing too well. You hear his mom begin to speak, and turn towards her.
"Tommy, why don't you let her change into something of mine upstairs? If it is too short on her, give her one of your old sweaters! Sorry about that.. Y/N!"
"Oh no worries! I am really fine! It isn't too big of a spill!"
You look down at your shirt, and realize, it is actually a pretty big spill. It covers the sleeves of your jacket, and the entirety of the front of your shirt.
"No, no, my pleasure hun!"
She looks towards Tommy expectantly, and he nods. He locks eyes with you and waves you over.
"Here, my mom is way shorter than you, so you can borrow one of mine."
"Are you sure? It really is okay?"
"Of course! It's my clumsy ass that got you into this anyway."
He leads you up the stairs. His room must be in the same place as yours, seeing the format of each house of this block is the same. You make it to the top and notice everything is the same, except his room is on the opposite side, meaning you two share a wall. As you walk in, you see his streaming set-up. You stop and look in awe, before you feel him tap your shoulder.
"Oh, sorry. It is just that I am a streamer too, and your set-up is really nice!"
"You stream? So do I! What do you stream?"
"Minecraft, you?"
"Same, haha! What a coincidence! What is your channel?"
Oh no, this is it. He is going to know you know who he is, but it is too late now,
"Oh its Y/U/N,"
You say it shakily, nervous of his response.
"No way! I raided you the other day! I didn't recognize you outside of you red LED's haha"
"Oh yeah! So you're Tommy right? I thought you sounded familiar,"
Thank god you got out of that one,
'Yep, that's me! Also sorry, through all of this excitement, I forgot why we came up here in the first place!"
He hands you a red sweatshirt. It is going to be big, but you were glad you had it.
"Oh sorry! You can change here, I'll leave!"
He shuts the door and you start to change. Your pants were still wet, but it wasn't too bad. The sweatshirt was super comfortable, but you were drowning in it. You looked stupid. But better than nothing. You open the door and Tommy stumbles in. He must have been scrolling on his fun and leaning against the door. He falls into and you both fall over. You two become a laughing mess and you hear his mom shout from downstairs.
"Are you guys okay?"
"Yeah mum, we're fine!"
Tommy struggles to hold back his laughter as he says that, and so do you. Once the laughter dies down, you two realize how close you were to each other. Tommy gets red and quickly hops up, offering you a hand. You hesitantly accept it, and he pulls you up. He then looks at you in the hoodie for the first time, and smiles.
"It looks stupid, I know."
"No, well yeah, but it looks good!"
You blush again and give him a smile. You both leave his room and head back downstairs.
