This can't be happening.
It's common knowledge at this point that you see the world in black and white until you meet your soulmate. Along with that, the world returns to black and white when they die.
From the moment you met Shota Aizawa, the world was in amazing, vivid color.
But right now, your vision was fading to black and white. The colors in your house were fading, becoming dull and dark.
You were panicking, realizing what was happening to Shota right now. He usually comes home from patrol scratched up and bleeding, but it's never been too bad. Now he was dying, and you weren't there for him.
You raced out the door, phone in hand as you called your best friend, Hizashi Yamada, A.K.A., Present Mic.
Hizashi answered the phone to hear your panicked breathing. "Y/N, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
"It's Shota! He's dying! My sight, it's-" you paused, sobbing, "the colors are fading."
You heard shouting on the other side of the line as Hizashi ran around his office trying to get information on where Shota was patrolling that night.
You were sobbing on the pavement in front of your house. You and Shota had bought this house because of the color. The siding was a beautiful shade of deep forest green that you loved. Now, looking at it, it seemed grayer than you remembered.
"I got it!" Hizashi yelled into the phone, "He's in Musutafu! I'm calling everyone patrolling in that area. We'll find him Y/N, I promise."
A broken "thank you" was all you could get out before you choked again. You prayed to whatever deity could hear you, please save him.
A chorus of pleas came mumbling out of you as you watched the last of the color fade from the world around you, the world losing the last of its vibrance, for good.
It was finished.
He was gone.
You screamed in agony, cursing the world for its cruelness. You slammed your fists on the concrete beneath you until they bled as you let out broken sobs.
The love of your life, your soulmate, Shota, was gone. You'd never get to talk to him again, cuddle with him, kiss his lips, or stroke his long black hair.
He was gone.
The city around you had lost its vibrance, its light. It was now dull, gray, and sad.
Your vision was blurry with tears, but you recognized Hizashi's car speed down the road and stop next to you. He rushed out of the car to pull you into a hug.
You clutched his jacket with your bloodied hands as he wrapped his arms around you, letting you sob into his shoulder. "He's gone, he's gone, he's gone..." you mumbled over and over.
"Shhh, shhh, I got you," he said, rocking you back and forth a little, stroking your hair, trying to calm you down.
His phone rang and he picked it up, still holding you close. You could hear both sides of the conversation through his phone.
"Nemuri, did you find him?" Hizashi asked.
"We did, but we were too late. He's gone 'Zashi." You could hear the sadness in her voice and your sobs grew harder, knowing that he was truly gone. There was a slight hope that they could resuscitate him, but that hope was crushed.
"No, there has to be something you can do!" he shouted, tears falling from his eyes as well.
"He's got a giant hole in his chest." she said, lowering her voice, "God... there's so much blood..."
Her voice was quivering slightly, "There's nothing we can do. We did catch the man who did this to him, he'll face a fate worse than death for this, I'll make sure of it."
"Thanks, Nem'." Hizashi hung up, dropping the phone from his hand and hugging you tight.
"What am I gonna do? I-" you choked on your words, taking a deep breath, "I lost him. He's gone. He promised me he'd never leave me!" You screamed, balling your hands into fists and pounding them into his back. "He promised! He promised..."
He rubbed your back as you returned to crying, body collapsing onto his.
The world around you was so dark. It was dull, gray, and sad. It seemed to reflect your mood as you cried, screaming in sorrow to the sky, knowing you'd never see the love of your life again.
