2nd Anniversary

A soft, consistent beeping was all you could hear as you opened your eyes. You groaned softly at the bright lights in the room as you shifted in the bed. You tried to sit up before a blinding pain flared in your abdomen. You collapsed back onto the bed, trying to collect your thoughts.

The villains.

Those damn villains.

It was your 2nd anniversary with Shota and the two of you were out on a date, but the villains attacked the restaurant and you got injured. You felt your stomach, wincing as your hand touched the bandages covering the large gash you had received.

Looking to the left, you found the source of the beeping noise. A heart monitor sat beeping next to you, cords, wires, and tubes connected to various places in your body.

Looking right, you saw a mound of raven black hair. You realized it was Shota, fast asleep, leaning on the bed.

You brought your hand to his head and ran your fingers through his hair, finding comfort in its softness.

The sound of the door opening brought you out of your thoughts. A nurse stepped in the room softly, trying not to wake Shota.

"I'm glad your awake," she said softly, before gesturing to Shota, "this one here refused to sleep. He finally crashed about an hour ago. I'll come back in a bit to check you over, alright?"

You nodded, returning your thoughts to Shota. You wondered how worried he was for you, and how long you had been asleep.

Just then, Shota stirred, leaning his head into your touch. You scratched his scalp, getting a soft groan from him. He rose his head and his eyes widened, seeing you awake. He nearly sprung on you, pulling you into a hug.

You gasped in pain and he released you gently.

"Sorry! Sorry," he said, looking down at your stomach, "I forgot."

You grabbed the sides of his face, turning him to face you. His eyes were full of tears as cradled the side of your face with his hand.

"Y/N, I thought-" he choked on his words and tears started to fall.

You pulled him into a hug, gently this time to avoid any pain or discomfort. He rested his head on your shoulder, crying softly. You stroked his hair and rubbed his back. "shhh, it's okay. I'm here. I'll never leave you," you comforted.

"I was so scared I'd lose you. You've never been hurt this bad before. I just- I just didn't know what to do."

"I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I promise."

The two of you sat there in silence, finding comfort in each other's company.
