The morning after, you walked to school with your school bag on and a pocky (favorite flavor) in your mouth. You hadn't ate as much since you had to leave earlier because of the morning volleyball practice. Every Tuesday and Thursday the boys had practice before going to school. About 30 minutes of volleyball to wake up. Yay...
The streets of Japan were very crowded since a lot of people started working and opening up their shops early. Why? Success and money.
'Honestly I'd prefer sleeping over money.' You thought, stopping at your bus stop. You weren't living far enough from Nekoma to take the train like Kenma. You liked the feeling of warmth on the bus. Especially when it was chilly outside. Though you hated waiting for it. When you just woke up and went outside for a walk on winter, it could prove to be a real hassle sometimes. But you didn't mind since the view was nice.
You lightly skimmed a pebble with your shoe, making it roll in the street as your ride came to a stop in front of you. The hissing of the breaks deafened you temporarily as the bus doors opened up, giving you access to enter the vehicle. You got on and slipped in the first free seat next to the window to enjoy your ride as much as possible. You took out your earbuds and plugged them both in your ears before turning your favorite music up and forgetting about the world around you. You enjoyed moments like these. We all needed some alone time sometimes.
You're feet hit the concrete ground as you stepped off the bus and faced your school. You were surprised to find three or four students already on campus. Since when did people come to school early? Unless when they were managing a club of 9 guys, that is.
You proceeded on your journey to walk to the gym and prepare everything before the guys came. You pulled out the keys from your jacket as you made your way easily around campus. You didn't need to stop by the girl's changing stalls since you already wore your red Nekoma management uniform. So all you had to do was change into your school uniform after practice.
Arriving to the gym after a long walk throughout campus you started picking at the keys, trying to remember which one was for what. You knew that you'd be stuck outside until the others arrived if you ever were unable to unlock the doors, and you did not under any circumstance want that to happen. You plucked the keys one by one in the keyhole until one of them made a clicking noise. You pushed the doors aside and successfully opened the barriers keeping you away from the warmth of the inside. You sighed as you shut the doors and smelled the scent of the area. It smelled like bleach. The janitor must've cleaned the place after you yesterday night.
You were ready to pull out the ball cart from the closet until the doors opened startling you, making you squeak in shock. The one that stared back at you from the doorway was none other than...
"Kenma?!" You asked in shock, your heartbeat calming down. Why was he here? He never arrived this early before. And...Was he alone?!? When has Kenma ever arrived without Kuroo?!? Now you were asking yourself some serious questions." What are you doing here so early? Aren't you always with Kuroo? I thought the two of you came everyday together?"
Kenma looked frozen in his spot, not expecting all those questions. He looked lost and completely out of it. But as you approached him to get a better look at his face, you could see the massive dark eye bags he was wearing. He almost looked as if death visited him. Had he even slept last night?! His hair was unkept and tangled and his eyes were red and puffy almost as if he hadn't slept for a whole week. How had he even made it to school?! Had he seen himself?
"Kenma?" You asked, but he didn't answer. He stared into nothing with his gold glassy eyes. What had happened to him? You overheard conversations about him when the boys were talking that Kenma always fell asleep past bedtime but you never expected him to turn up with a face like that.
