The phone shook violently in his hands, the glowing image trembling in the dark.
He couldn't believe it. It wasn't possible. Was it reality or was it just a bad nightmare? It had to be. He wanted to wake up. He didn't want to see it no more. No more! STOP! WAKE UP, IDIOT!!
But no...it wasn't a nightmare, nore something he could wake up from. He was really seeing this. The harsh truth. The painful punishment of not being there with you. Of watching over you. Of following you. He knew that letting you alone was a bad idea. He had dozed off peacefully, thinking that he could just wake up and go back to looking over you with a better fonctionning mind and body. But of course letting you alone had caused this.
Kenma stared with wide open and angry eyes at a selfie Kuroo had taken with you and other members of his team. He recognized the background as the school's gym walls. Kuroo was sticking his tongue out and you looked like you were placed like a libero would to catch the ball that seemed to fly over to you in the background. You were in a lose black t-shirt with the Nekoma blaser open on your shoulders. You wore the red baggy pants that Kenma often wore himself. Your eyes were sparkling with the light shining through the gym's windows. You seemed hApPy... without him.
Kenma had waken up and checked his phone to admire the pictures he had taken of you, the night before, but he stopped abruptly in his search as he saw the numerous notifications on his message app. Kuroo. Kuroo had tried to text him in the morning. He had tried to convince him into coming with him and the boys to the gym to practice for the upcoming game. He never mentioned your name, yet you were with them in the photo. Alone with them. The only girl. And Kenma had let that happen. It was his fault. HE was the one that had to be there with you. It was the first time Kenma had seen you playing volleyball and he missed the chance to see you in action. He was sure you were good. He was proud of you for trying, but you could've kept that play for him. Only him. Only him.
Tetsucat: Hey, bro! The boys and I are going to practice. You commin?
Tetsucat: Are you gaming again?
Tetsucat: C'mon don't let me hanging like that! At least answer? A sign that you're still alive.
Tetsucat: Well, guess you did die...you're not even saying hi?
Missed call from Tetsucat.
Tetsucat: Kenma? Hello?
Tetsucat: Bro I'm leaving soon. Last chance.
Tetsucat: 3...
Tetsucat:2...
Tetsucat:1...
Tetsucat: you're probably asleep. Logical. It's the weekend and you probably slept at 5 in the morning. Well, In any case! See y'a on Monday😉
He had tried. Kuroo had tried to text him. He really did, but Kenma was fast asleep on his bed, drool seeping from the corner of his mouth, proving how deep in his dream he was. He had been so tired, his body had needed that rest, but it seemed that every good thing came with a bad one. The selfie In front of him, proof of it.
The capture on it read" Gone to practice with the team on a Sunday afternoon. All thanks to our cool manager to let us. Gonna help her play with us.😜"
Kenma clutched his phone so hard, he thought it would start to break. His knuckles turned white under the pressure and he barely felt the tips of his fingers. So you helped them? Of course! How could he miss? You were the one with the keys. You were the only one besides the coach and the janitor to be able to give them access to the gym. Of course. Kuroo wouldnt've invited you without a purpose. He had used you, taken advantage of you. Poor innocent you probably didn't even see through his plan. Kuroo had coaxed you into going with them with his words. You had been trapped. He had invited you to come practice with them to take advantage of the fact that you had the keys. And he couldn't be there for you. It was his fault. Again.
