You noticed as much as everyone else that Kenma was not concentrated at all. His posture was crooked and his legs were looking wobbly. You were worried that if he kept playing any longer that he'd collapse on the ground. His eyes were watching everybody's moves as if he was waiting for one of them to attack him.
When Kuroo arrived earlier, he confronted his best friend to ask him why he had left without him. And Kuroo came walking in the gym as one of the last team members...and Kenma came as first. Just how early did he wake up to walk to school?
'Somebody stop this boy.' You thought, watching with a frown as Kenma missed another one of his friend's pass. No one dared to mention it, since they knew a tired Kenma was a moody Kenma and no one wanted to face that.
You didn't want to appear dramatic but watching him wobble his way around the gym trying to follow other's steps was a pitiful sight.
You knew what it felt like to be tired. Everyone did. But this was another type of tired. It was the 'I cried all night' type of tired.
Thankfully the school bell rang meaning that you'll all have to head to class. And if the teachers weren't blind, one of them would send the poor boy home. Cause you nor anyone from the team could convince him to go back. Based from this morning's experience.
You didn't have much classes with Kenma. You probably had one or two but your desks were separated by far. Since you didn't even know who he was before becoming the manager of the volleyball team.
As you walked in your class with all your stuff, you waved shyly at a few early people already ready at their assigned places. You sighed and sat down at yours and waited until all the others came in. Meanwhile you couldn't help but think about what had happened this morning and why Kenma had resisted so much. Something had upset him and you really couldn't put your finger onto what it could've been. Was it because you were trying to force him to go back home? Or because you babied him too much? You were thinking way too much about this. Maybe he was just in a bad mood because of lack of sleep, that's all.
You huffed as you crossed your arms over your desk and rested your jumbled head onto them.
'Look at me making it seem like the puppie's a wolf. I'm being dramatic again.' You chuckled looking out the window. 'I should probably get more rest too. Watching anime until 2 am probably isn't the best of ideas after all.'
You're class seemed to drag on forever as you couldn't seem to catch about half of what the teacher was teaching you. The teacher's voice was so robotic, you felt like google was talking to you. You could see some of the people in your class falling asleep on their desks and you weren't far from doing the same. Wait, what was the subject again?
Finally after an hour of basic politics class, you took your stuff just to get the fuck out of the classroom as soon as possible. You almost dropped your books with how fast you were walking out.
'Thank god, torture session's over. Any longer and I would've called that abuse on my brain. I think I even popped a brain cell or two in there.'
As you walked through the crowded highschool halls, you almost mistook the sound of someone calling out for you as a random background noise. You turned your head around to be sure if you were right and indeed you were. There behind you, stood the one and only Kenma Kozume, holding his stuff close to his chest like a shy highschool girl. His phone in his left hand and his stuff in the right. You're eyes widened realizing that the guy that almost killed you with his look this morning was calling out your name. Had he forgotten? Or did he just perceive all of this as not important?
