Your eyes darted from a player to another. They were all present. All but... Kenma. You saw him this morning in school and ate with the team at lunch. Well... more like played with his phone the entire time, but still! He was there! Did he forget that there was practice? Maybe he didn't feel very well and decided on going home early? He did seem kind of ill and slow but he looked better then yesterday. His eyes weren't purple with eyebags but he still seemed to process things slower. Maybe he caught something? You hoped he was alright.

Since you were the one doing the presences and absences, and you didn't want to seem unconcerned since you were kind of worried for your new friend, you walked up to Kuroo and tapped him on the shoulder. The raven haired guy turned around surprised to find out that you were the one to get his attention when usually it was the opposite.

"Hey, do you know where Kenma is? He's not showing up and it's already been ten minutes since the club started." You asked, holding the clipboard between your hand and waist. The boy looked at you funny but continued to stretch his body so he could touch the tip of his toes. You weren't sure what you expected to hear but you felt a tad bit shocked at Kuroo's response.

"No, I don't. I thought your last classes were together. If anything you'd know more then me. Did you see him walk out of class? "

You sent him a confused look. True you were in the same class, but you walk out in a hurry to get early to the gym. You didn't have the time to know if he got out or not.

"Well, yes but I got out before him so I don't know where he went. If you remember I have to get to the gym before most of y'all." You leaned on a hip as Kuroo stood up fully, towering over your smaller form to stop his exercises. He stared at you with a slight worried glance while panting with exhaustion. It was Friday after all, everyone was tired.

"Maybe he went back home? He didn't eat anything at lunch and seemed out of it this week. I didn't dare bring the subject up in case I'd accidentally hurt his feelings or hit a weak spot. And with how Kenma was acting these past few days, it's probably the last thing he needs right now." Yaku said, catching his breath on the bench next to you. You nodded in understanding but couldn't shake off the itch that was telling you that there was something else to the story. If something really wasn't okay, wouldnt've he told Kuroo about it? They were best friends after all, right?

"Yeah, he had been acting off. I'm gonna try asking him this weekend." Kuroo said while stretching his arms.

Just as you were about to inform coach Nekomata about the blond's absence, the door of the gym slowly opened before Kenma walked in with wobbly legs. He looked bad. Like really bad. Not physically but mentally. His eyes were fogged with something dark and his head was hanging like a zombie's. His back was hunched and he didn't look in shape at all to come to practice. You were so surprised that you hadn't realised that his gaze had been casted onto you out of everyone. He was so relieved to see you. He felt happy and content. He would've ran to you with wide open arms if it weren't for his shy nature.

Kenma glanced around him to find out that everyone had already arrived and he was the only one left. He left you alone with these guys...what a hero he was...

Noticing his best friend's presence Kuroo stopped his exercises and jogged up to him with a worried face. In the meantime you were still asking yourself multiple questions and trying to come up with plausible answers for them.

"Kenma! Hey, you're late dude. What happened? Did you somehow forget that we had practice or something?" Kuroo asked. You could see the crooked smile that he tried to bring on his face to hide his true feelings. He was the captain after all, so he had to remain as calm as possible. Team's logic.
