Chapter 22

Bonds Between Us

Lupin hummed watching Coco and Yatsuhashi fight against Emerald and Mercury.

"They're good." Lupin muttered leaning against the railing after the fight. "Distract with Mercury fighting close, separate the two, then take'em out one by one."

Lupin straightened before walking away, humming slightly as he went along.

(Ice Queen and the Birdy Boy, are here. But why?) Lupin thought frowning. (Tinbutt came too. Did something happen that made Ozzy nervous?) Lupin smirked. (Maybe he's frightened of me...)

"Oh?" Hazel said appearing as Lupin came to a stop. "Do you really believe that?"

"No." Lupin shook his head his eyes glowing slightly. "He isn't frightened of me. He's frightened of something else. Something that's coming."

"So you did feel it. Your time's coming Lupin." Jay said appearing on Lupin's other side.

Lupin's eyes began to glow a darker red. "Time for Ozpin seeing his day, and you all will be able to rest in peace. Just as promised."

"I know!" Lupin suddenly heard from nearby and he followed the sounds of two voices causing him to find what appeared to be a pavilion. "Why would he cut me off like that?"

"Perhaps so you would stop avoiding him and call home." Winter said simply. Weiss snarled and spun around, a glyph appearing before her. "Emotions can grant you strength." Winter said lightly placing a hand on Weiss's shoulder.  "But you must never let them overpower you."  The glyph faded away, and Lupin leaned his back against the pillar and looked down at his feet, the glowing in his eyes fading away.

(Not let your emotions over power?) Lupin's eyes returned to normal. (easier said than done Ice Queen...)

"It sounds to me like you have two choices in front of you. "You can either call him, beg for his money back and explain to him once more why you want to study here at Beacon instead of Atlas. Or you could continue to explore Remnant. Discovering more about the world, and honestly, more about yourself." Lupin looked back. "It's almost time for me to go." Winter pulled Weiss into a hug and Lupin felt his eyes sting.

"It was really good to see you again, Winter." Weiss said as they separated.

"Until next time Sister." Winter said as the two began to walk off.

Lupin stepped out and looked at where the two were, before back to where the two went their separate ways. A watery smile appearing on his face.

"I wonder..... If we would be like them...." He looked  back towards the sky. "If you were still around.... Jay..." Lupin then chuckled slightly. "As if, we'd probably be Yang and Ruby." Shuffling through his pockets he produced a picture. Looking at it for a moment, tears formed in his eyes before he turned and walked away again. "I promise, I'll see you soon.... All of you. Once peace is brought to you....."

"And victory goes to Penny and Ciel of Atlas!" Oobleck announced as Penny thanked them before walking off, her Blue partner following after. After they walked off, Ruby practically vaulted over Lupin's legs to chase after them. Lupin chuckled rolling his eyes as he watched the girl go.

"Girls." Lupin chuckled. "Girls and friends."

"The next match will begin in 15 minutes!" Port announced.

"Whelp, Yang and Weiss, good luck." Lupin muttered leaning back as Ruby once again vaulted over his legs to get to her seat.

"Where's my popcorn?" Lupin asked jokingly, however Ruby didn't reply as she was immediately focused  on the match starting.

A rainbow circled around and stopped in front, as a Jazz musician, and a monkey girl on roller skates were before them.

"Whelp that looks interesting." Lupin muttered smirking.

The two seemed to get into the two's heads before the battle started. And it started off as if the two from Atlas were running circles around the two, until Weiss pushed both the Jazz player who was about to use his 'Killer Quartet' on Yang and herself into an erupting Volcano. That took them both out.

"Weiss!" Blake and Ruby shouted.

"It appears we have a double knockout!" Port said shocked.

"It appears that Weiss Shnee's aura has been completely depleted! She sacrificed herself to take out Flint!" Oobleck narrated. "Wait a minute!" The fog started to disburse.

"Ladies and gentleman, Flynt Coal is still standing!" Port said surprised. "Oooo, and it appears that Yang is angry and you wouldn't like her when she's..." Yang stomped her foot causing the ground to break, and fire spued out of the Volcano side. "Upset."

"Heh, don't I know it." Lupin muttered smirking.

Yang then ran through, destroying everything in her path, including her two opponents, before Yang ran over to Weiss on the ground. With the battle over, the last two remaining members ran over to check on Weiss, and Weiss seemed alright. Lupin leaned back, not realizing he was on the edge of his seat and his knuckles were white as he grasped the edge of the seat like he was about to jump into the ring should he need to. Lupin let out a breath in relief. Lupin then stood up and walked out of the arena.

"Well, that was a good battle." Lupin muttered to himself, opening and closing his hands, trying to get the blood running to his numb fingertips. "A bit more on edge than usual but it was good."  Rounding the corner he grit his teeth. "How... How did I become attach to them....? I shouldn't..... I'm only a Revenger for my family... And I will get it!"
