Chapter 10

Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng

The future fiancé is named Hope.

Half of me was rolling my eyes, and the other half of me was scared that Andrés would say sike, she is the one I love.

Currently, Andrés and I were sitting at the dinner table eating dinner. I was to the left of Andrés, and Hope was to the right. This had somehow become a family event, and my parents sat next to me while Hope's parents sat next to her.

Greg, the third-in-command, who was somehow roped into this mess, was at the end of the table. Happily eating his food with a smile.

No one was talking at all. The awkwardness was eating me alive, and I wasn't sure what to say, so I stayed quiet.

Everyone was served the same meal: bulgogi with white rice and kimchi on the side. Another side was red kidney and arepas, Andrés' favorite foods.

"How is Liam doing these days?" Asks Andrés to father.

"He is doing good. His grades are up, and he's projected to be top of his class this year," responds father with a grin.

"That sounds great," said Andrés as he continued to engage in small talk with father.

At the end of the dinner table, I hear Greg mumbling something.

"I'm only here because I was promised pie," Greg mumbles. Rose ends up elbowing Greg in the ribs to get him to stop. Rose is here too because she is Greg's mate.

Surprise! Not really sure how that happened.

"Andrés, could we talk privately?" Ask Hope as the tension builds even more than before. Then, she slowly moves her hand to touch Andrés.

"Remove your hand, now," I said as I got up from my seat in a quick motion.

Andrés grabs my thigh and tries to calm me down.

Father also quickly grabbed my hand to prevent me from moving. Of course, no one wants an incident to happen, especially with a human, but Hope was pushing my buttons. How dare she think she can touch him?!

"This is not your business, so stay out of it," replies Hope rudely as I hear my self-control slowly snapping in my head.

"What did you say to me?" I ask Hope.

"Stay. Out. Of. It. Do you not understand English? Should I try to speak Chinese?" She asks in a taunting way.

The room was filled with gasp.

"That's it," I threw myself over the table with all my strength that even my father couldn't stop. Both my wolf and I were mad with rage. First, she tries to touch Andrés, and then she insults my race. I was starting to see red by the second, and there was no going back.

Before I can reach her, Andrés grabs me in mid-jump and pulls me into a hug.

"Ethan, you need to calm down; your eyes are changing color," Andrés whispered to me, hoping to calm me down from my rage.

"Remember, she is just a human. So we shouldn't hurt them," said Andrés as he sat with me in a far corner of the room.

Andrés rubs my back in a circular motion, and I put my face on his shoulder. I'm trying my best to calm down, but it was hard to do so.

My canines erect and bite Andrés as I show ownership. Andrés tries to cover his mouth to not let any sound out. Maybe even a moan out.

My wolf was annoyed that he could not hear Andrés', so he quickly tried to remove his hand.

While this was happening, Hope had fallen out of her chair and was on the floor.

"My stomach hurts," cries Hope.

Andrés tries to move to see what is happening, but I have him locked in place.

"Call 9-1-1 right now!" Screams Hope at the top of her lungs as she holds her stomach.

"Let me help you up," said Greg as he tried to defuse the situation.

"Don't touch me. You will probably push me just like that Chinese brat just did," said Hope in an annoying voice.

"Excuse me, what did you just say to my boyfriend?" Ask Rose.

Hope's parents quickly grab their daughter and try to get her off the floor.

By that time, we could hear sirens in the background, and I retracted my canines as I moved away from Andrés.

The paramedic made it to Andrés' house and took a crying Hope away.

Andrés and I held hands as we watched Hope leave for the hospital. I coyly look away from Andrés, and my eyes meet Hope's eyes.

Hope looks at me with tears in her eyes.

Then, she slowly mouths out something.

Why. Do. You. Have. To. Get. In. The. Way. Ethan?.

The final missing pieces fell into place. Hope just said the exact same word the murderer said to me when I died!

My whole body goes numb.

Then, everything turns black, and I fall once again. Just great!
