Chapter 25

Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng

The bits of my memory are fogging. Sometimes I'm in my chair next to Andrés' bed, and the next, I'm in the woods in wolf form. Things were not adding up. I haven't said anything because everyone is focusing on the baby and trying to find Hope. 

On the other hand, my mission was also completed. The problem is that I don't even remember when it happened or how.

"I think you should go to school. There are only a couple more weeks left until you graduate," said Omma. If this were any other situation, she would have forced me to go, but things were different, and she understood. 

I don't want to disappoint my parents by letting my grades slip, but I must stay with Andrés. What if he wakes up and I'm gone?

"Could I please stay near Andrés?" I asked omma for her approval.

"Let me check if I can call the school to see if they can accommodate," she tells me.

I nod quickly and turn my attention to Andrés lying in his bed. The beep sound fills the whole room, which makes me dread what could come next.

Two weeks later

"Ethan, you need to go outside. Your parents are worried about you," said Mia, with a Rose beside her.

"You just can't just stay in this room forever," continues Mia as she tries to make me focus on her by moving in front of Andrés. I try to move my head to see Andrés again. This is the last thing I need today. Can't people just let me wallow in self-pity? 

Rose was silently supporting Mia's speech from far away. She would nod once in a while. 

"Rose, back me up. Tell Ethan he needs to leave the house because this is getting unhealthy," Mia tells Rose.

"What she just said," Rose responds quickly and moves behind Mia again.

Mia sighs and shakes her head.

"The point is that you need to leave this house. Your parents are worried about you, and heck, the pack is getting worried too," Mia said with concern, but I just don't care.

"Who?" I asked her.

"Pack members and me," she said slowly as she stopped to think.

"Cool," I said as I tried to focus on the small dent in the wall. I was not leaving, and she was not going to make me. 

"Stop being an asshole and go to school!" She shouts to get my attention again.

"I don't want to," I responded as I tried not to sound childish.

"I promised your mother that you would go to school today. There are some end-of-the-year tests that you need to take to graduate or something," Mia explains while moving her hands in the air.

I don't respond back at all. Just stared back at her.

"Fine, be like that. I wonder what I should do with this rare IU support photocard. Maybe sell it on eBay or burn it," Mia announces to the world. She even pulls out her phone to show me proof. 

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but my favorite singer is IU. Her concert tickets can be sold in minutes. I love to collect her photocards, but no one needs to know that. It's something I will take to my grave. 

"You wouldn't dare," I said worried.

"I would," she responded with a smirk. She should have an edited video on her phone to show that she means business. 

"Fine, I'll take the stupid test," I said as I got up from my seat. 

"I'm not doing this for the IU photocard at all," I reassured her. I was one hundred percent doing this for the IU photocard. 

"Sure, you aren't," Mia said with a smirk that I didn't like.

Luckily, I made it to school on time. Oh, what joy!

"Dude, where have you been?" Max said as he went down the main hall.

"I've been busy," I told him as I took my phone out. 

"Yeah, I heard that Andrés is in a coma from eating poison," Max said, concerned. A few guys from my class pass by, staring at their phones.

"Yup, it's been tough the past weeks. He's just lying there in his bed," I tell him with a sigh at the end. I don't want to talk about it. 

"If you need anything, just let me know," he said with a small smile.

"Cool," I said as we walked to class. I notice Alex at the corner of my eye just eavesdropping. Just staring at Max and me as we talked.

"You know he likes you, right?" Asked Max out of nowhere. Which earns him a crazy look. 

"Nah, he's just annoying," I respond as I find my desk.

"I said what I said," Max continues and sits down. I looked at Alex, who quickly gave me the middle finger. Would someone who likes you do that? I laugh and return a middle finger right back.

"Ethan and Alex see me after class," said Ms. Taylor, and we both groaned.

"Make sure to take everything off your deck," continues Ms Taylor as she walks around the room. Today would be a long day of testing, and I would rather be at home overthinking everything.

By the time we finished, it was lunch; we were super tired.

"Some of the guys are going to go eat at McDonald's. Do you want to tag along?" Max asked as he scrolled through his phone, texting someone. I leaned in to see who he was texting, and the name was party dude 2. I rolled my eyes.  

"Sure," I said. I was tired and hungry, and McDonald's sounded like a good place by the minute. I ended up following Max's to his car. There was no point in taking two cars. 

"Where is your car?" I asked, looking around the school parking lot.

"My car got stolen; I had to borrow my dad's," he said as we got into his dad's car.

"That sucks," I thought when my phone started ringing.

"Have you checked any of your text?" Asked a stressed Greg.

"Of course," I responded as I quickly went and increased the volume on my phone, which earned me a bunch of pings. I didn't even have time to start reading them all. Great!

"There is this weird man that just appeared and is doing floating magic things on Andrés' body," said a crazy-sounding Greg.

"You're not making any sense," I told him, but he started shouting more. I pulled the phone from my ear and asked Max to drop me off at my house.

"Okay, but you will owe me," Max huffed as he did a U-turn. 

By the time I made it to the house. Everyone was talking and shouting over each other.

The first person I saw was Mia walking around in the living room.

"I heard from Greg that there is a man doing magic floating things," I told her as we walked upstairs.

"Yes! Also, Andrés woke up," she said as we made it to the room's doorframe.

"What!" I shouted and rushed into the room to see if it was true. If it is a sick joke, there will be hell to pay!

"Ethan," said Andrés as he looked up from the bed. He grabs my hand and pulls me down. Our lips found each other as we kissed.

The whole room went quiet.
