Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng

"Morning," I said, giving Andrés a quick kiss. I checked my phone and noticed all the missed calls. Omma is going to kill me.

"What time is it?" Andrés asked, still half asleep.

"It's 8 am. I need to call my mom," I replied as I dialed her number.

"Where are you?" she asked, her voice laced with anger.

"Why didn't you call me?" she demanded, and I could hear my father talking to my brother in the background.

"Omma—" I tried to interject, but she cut me off.

"You know you have to call me. What would I do if you had died or been killed?" she asked, and Andrés took the phone from my hand.

"Ma'am, it's Andrés. I asked Ethan to come with me," he said, sounding charming.

"Yes, we'll be there soon," Andrés added with a smile, and I tried to grab the phone back, but he dodged me.

"Thank you for understanding," he said, and I finally had my phone back, but it was too late; the call had ended.

"Your mom said she may not ground you. I think she likes me," Andrés said with a grin as I rolled my eyes.

"Great," I replied as I got out of bed. She is definitely going to kill me! Even though Andrés may have saved me temporarily, I was still in trouble.

"She sounds lovely. I want to meet your family properly," he said, following me as I got dressed, our clothes strewn across the floor.

"You've already met her before," I told him, putting on my shirt.

"Yeah, but not as your boyfriend," he replied with a smirk, adding a wink for good measure. I can't believe we used to hate each other.

We made our way to breakfast, where I grabbed a bowl of cereal and an apple, while he opted for a pancake drenched in syrup. I may have stolen a piece of his pancake.

The pool outside was calling to me through the window. I wanted to jump in.

"We should leave," Andrés suggested as he disposed of our trash. I hummed quietly in response.

"Do you want to get in the pool?" he asked, his smile too big for comfort.

"Nope, I'm mature, and I don't need to get in the pool like a child," I said, but he interrupted me by dragging me to the pool.

"I'm going to kill you," I responded, but he just laughed and ran away. I quickly get out of the pool. Andrés was too slow.

"Ethan, no!" he exclaimed as I caught up to him and pulled him into a big, wet hug. Revenge was so sweet.

"You can't make me get in there," he said as his final protest, but I dragged him into the pool.

"My shoes!" he screamed with laughter. Everything was going to be soaked when I was done with him.

"You should have taken them off when you saw me coming," I laughed maniacally.

"Boo," Andrés said, swimming closer to me and splashing water in my face while sticking his tongue out.

When he wasn't looking, I pushed him under and kissed him underwater. The plan backfired, though, because I ended up coughing up water when I tried to come up for air.

He laughed at me. How dare he?

"No more kisses for you," I said jokingly, pouting and gasping for air.

"No, please! How will I live?" he said, pulling me closer.

We deepened our kiss, hands wandering south, signaling that it was time to leave.

"Want to go back to our room?" I suggested, giving him one last kiss in the pool.

"Okay," he replied as we raced up the stairs, with Andrés speeding ahead.

He pulled me closer as the door swung open. We stumbled into the room, our lips still locked.

"We need to check out," Andrés murmured, kissing my neck. I didn't want to stop, but I knew I had to.

"Fine, but just one more kiss," I insisted.

I was very wrong!

"Let me take a quick shower," I said as I dashed into the bathroom, hearing Andrés' laugh fill the room while I cursed the cold water.

All I wanted to do was be back out there and shower him with affection, but we had to leave soon. My brain was trying to make sense of everything, but my heart wouldn't listen at all.

He also has to take a quick shower.

Finally, we checked out and headed for the door.

"Let me drive," he said, grinning.

"Sure, but I get to pick the playlist," I told him as I connected my phone to the Bluetooth.

We held hands while Andrés drove with his left hand. Have I mentioned how handsome he is? And now he is all mine.

"What's up, Max?" I asked as I answered my phone and turned off the music.

"Dude, I need you to come to my house for a second," Max said.

"I can't right now. Mom is angry with me. I need to go home before she skins me alive," I replied.

"Can you just swing by for a second?" Max pushed again.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, sensing something was off. Max usually texts but rarely calls me.

"Nah, there's just this cool game I wanted to show you, but maybe next time," he said, disappointment in his tone.

Then, I heard a struggle in the background. Something is definitely wrong, and I didn't like it.

"Give me the phone now! I swear, guys can't do anything right," an AI voice said over the phone.

"Don't go to the police or else."

"What?" I said in confusion.

"Come to Max's house now if you want to see him alive again," the voice threatened.

Then the call ended abruptly.
