Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng
I check my phone to look at the date. It's exactly one week before I get murderer.
This also means that I'm five days till my oath ceremony.
I slowly head towards my high school, trying to figure out a plan to complete my mission somehow. The truth was I was walking in circles, trying to understand which child I needed to save. Do I just save all the babies I see? That couldn't be right.
"Ethan, can I borrow your homework for Ms. Jones' class?" Asked Max as he walks next to me into the classroom.
"Sure, here," I said, handing him my paper.
I had given up saying no to Max a long time ago. He would always ask for my homework every single day and didn't even miss a beat. Unfortunately, he always knows that I have my homework completed.
Ms. Jones comes into the classroom and shuts the door to start class. I already heard the lessons, so I just tuned everything out.
The rest of the day was spent brainstorming ideas about who's the child I needed to save. Also, I tried to figure out who hated me enough to kill me.
"Some of the guys after school are going to hang out at Alex's house. Do you want to come?" Asked Max as I got up to go home for the day.
"I wish I could, but you know I have to help father around the house," I said to Max.
"Maybe next time," Max said as he sighed and waved goodbye.
After a long day of pretending to listen to teachers, I finally made it over to Andrés' house. First, I check the security cameras and then go find Andrés. I found him in one of the bathrooms drinking beer.
"Need help?" I ask him as I grab his hand to pull him out of the bathtub.
Andrés sits there, too drunk to reply, so I assume he needs my help. Unfortunately, I accidentally hit Andrés' head on the door while moving him towards his bedroom.
That's for getting a fiancé. That's not me. My wolf even groaned at the thought of Andrés with someone else.
Don't get emotional; you must finish the mission and not get murdered again. Focus!
I finally drag the drunk Andrés to his gigantic bed. I made sure that I didn't hit his head by mistake again, which was much more complicated than I thought because he would start moving every few seconds. Great!
I make sure to position him so he doesn't fall off the bed. But, to my surprise, Andrés grabs my hand and pull me down with him.
"Sleep," said Andrés. Then, he proceeded to pass out. Just great!
I try to get up from the bed, but Andrés has his arm still around my neck, pinning me to the bed. My heart ends up skipping several beats because of the close contact. My wolf jumps with joy. I couldn't remember what I should be worried about, so I just stared at Andrés as he slept.
"Alpha, let's party!" Explains Mia as she barges into the bedroom with alcohol bottles in her hands.
Andrés' eyelids suddenly opened, and he said, "Let's party," as he got up from the bed. He quickly ends up walking downstairs. I'm not sure how he can continue to drink even more. Must be the werewolf stomach.
I roll my eyes and lay on the bed once again. Great! Not another party to clean up afterward. Just what I needed! Note the sarcasm.
After a while, I hear more people enter the house and start playing loud music. I quickly slipped out of Andrés' house. I'm sure they can handle themselves.
Quickly, I headed towards the pack daycare center. With great luck, maybe there I could find out the baby I needed to save.
"Good afternoon; I need to see the records of the babies here. It's for Andrés," I said to the front desk worker.
"Sure, Beta Ethan, let me pull up the records," said the lady at the front desk with a smile. So, I quietly waited for a couple of minutes to get the records.
"Here you go," said the lady.
"Thank you," I said as I took the papers that were attached to a clipboard.
I move my finger down the list to look for babies born in the past year. There was no baby born in the past year! What was I going to do now?
I give back the record to the lady and dash to my house.
Usually, I would have been at Andrés' house to make sure he was not doing something stupid such as filling the pool with red Jello. But today, I had other things to do.
I run up the stairs and enter my room. Then, I take my notebook from my back bag and start writing ideas once again.
Liam had to do Hagwon, so I had room for myself. Perfect!
I write down 'baby' with a question mark next to the word. Then, I write 'female' with a question mark. Both terms are surrounded by questions that I don't have answers to.
"Baby? Who has a baby?" I ask myself.
Next, I move on to the other keyword I wrote before: female. What female has a grudge against me enough to want to kill me? Most of the time, I'm busy trying to get Andrés out of trouble.
"Why do you have to get in the way, Ethan?" I repeat what the female voice had told me just before I passed away, which sends shivers down my spine. The female called me by my name, so she must be someone I know, but who could it be?
"What are you doing?" Ask Liam as he comes into our room. He must have come back from Hagwon.
"Nothing," I said as I shut my notebook and put it back in my backpack.
Liam gave me a curious stare, but he left it alone. He ended up going to take a shower, and I took out my phone to look at Andrés' house security cameras before I headed to bed.
