Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng
The rest of the couple of days before the funeral were a blur. Half of the time, Andrés would be crying. In the other half, he would sleep for hours at a time.
My state of mind was between not knowing what to say and not being sure how to mentally process everything. So I decided it would be best if I just sat by Andrés' side as he grieved.
Some days he would get up and watch tv with me, and other times, he wouldn't want to leave his room. Everyone in the pack has tried to help here and there, such as bringing Andrés warm cooked meals when they can.
"What are you doing?" Andrés asked me as I was typing on my laptop.
"I'm writing my paper on an American president for my US government class," I tell him as I look up from the screen. Ughhhhh, I don't want to do my homework, but it is due tomorrow.
"Sounds boring," he said as he got something to eat in the kitchen. Then, after a few minutes, he returns with car keys in hand.
"Where are you going?" I asked him.
"Out," he responded back to me as he put his shoes on.
"Out where?" I asked as I put away my laptop and prepared to follow Andrés outside.
"I'm just going to the town to get some fresh air," he said with a tone.
"I'll come with," I told him. It would be best if I don't leave Andrés' side. My wolf made sure to tell me that he liked the idea of staying close to Andrés.
"Ethan, I just need some space. I need to think about everything, and staying here is not helping me at all," said Andrés as he shut the door, not waiting for my response.
I took the hint that Andrés didn't want to be around me right now. So for that reason, I decided to return to my paper and give him the space he needed.
The clock just turned 12:00 am, and it's been five hours since I heard from Andrés. Should I be worried? I mean, if he was in trouble, he would call me, right?
I'm sure he just lost track of time and is just driving around town. Maybe?
Or could something have happened to him?
Before I would start panicking more, my phone rings, and I quickly pick it up.
"Hello," said the boy's voice with loud music in the background.
"Hello, who is this?" I asked as I looked back to check the caller ID. I see Andrés' phone number on my phone screen.
"My name is Alex. Could you come to pick up your friend? He is too drunk to drive home," said Alex.
"Sure, I will be there soon," I said as I got my car keys and headed out the door.
In the past, if Andrés was not partying at his house, he was at Alex's house. One could even say they usually got along with each other. On the other hand, I didn't like Alex because he spent most of the time attempting to steal things from Andrés just to annoy me for fun. He even went as far as inventing a game to mess with me. Let's just say I greatly dislike him to the core of my being.
I knock on the only house that has very loud music. Alex opens the door and then frowns.
"Ethan," he said.
"Alex," I responded back with a frown.
"This place isn't for a goody two shoes like you. Don't you go to sleep at like ten?" he asked with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes at him as I shoved my way into his house. I scan the room to try to find Andrés.
I see him sitting on a couch with a beer in hand as a girl from my school hits on him. Andrés is not engaging, but she sure was. I could see her trying to push her body onto him. Barf.
"Andrés, let's go home," I said as I moved over to where he was.
"Ethan! Este es el chico que yo quiero besar mucho," he said as he turns the girl.
I never really heard Andrés speak Spanish before, so this was a surprise. But, sadly, I couldn't understand what he was saying, so I just smiled and agreed with what he just said.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go," I said as I tried to lead him out of the house.
"I don't feel so good," Andrés comments as he covers his mouth.
"Wait, there is a bathroom over there," I tell him, but we only make it to the front door of the bathroom before Andrés vomits on me. Ahhhh, my favorite shirt. You will be missed.
I push Andrés toward the toilet and close the door behind us. I didn't need any extra drama right now. Then, I quickly removed my shirt and tried to see if I would clean the vomit from my clothes. The key word here is tried.
While I was trying to focus on cleaning the mess Andrés made, I heard a loud shout from behind.
So, I turn around.
Dude!
