"Sir Meliodas!"
The familiar sound of bashing wood could be heard as Elizabeth opened the tavern door. Glancing up from cleaning one of his oak tankards, Meliodas stopped humming his quiet tune.
"Hey there, Elizabeth!"
She stepped forward a few paces, "is it true you're about to go on another journey?" Wiping off the tankard as she spoke, Meliodas returned to cleaning (seeming to pay little interest for what she was saying). He hummed a short answer with a nod.
"Right, then I'll start getting ready to go, too!" Elizabeth's voice sparked in excitement; a smile lighting up her face. Her eyes sparkled as she thought of the new adventures ahead.
"No need." Said Meliodas.
Elizabeth jogged over, the click of her heels trailing behind her, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. A hand placed over the frills of her dress, she frowned, "you said that when this incident was over, we'd set up shop together again.""
You sure you didn't mishear that?" Meliodas brushed her off, reaching up to grab a bottle; slightly shaking it. Leaning over the bar, Elizabeth blinked to hide the hurt in her eyes (trying not to take notice of his blunt tone).
"You're acting strange! Did something happen, Sir Meliodas?" Meliodas stopped what he was doing and stopped fiddling with the bottle. Before she knew what hit her, Elizabeth felt air rush past her waist as her dress flew into the air. Panicked, she screamed with her face flushing bright red as Meliodas felt up her lacy white stockings.
"Still think I'm acting strange? I'm the same as ever." He pressed his face on her thigh while Elizabeth stood too shocked to move. With a sudden squeal, Hawk frantically boxed Meliodas into a barrel. Chewing on the iron nails, he blindly slammed piles of wood around Meliodas' neck – his ears wildly flapping in the air.
"Elizabeth! Make a run for it!" He shrieked, the hammer in his trotter a blur. Elizabeth smiled awkwardly, her face a rosy pink, a bit embarrassed.
"B-but we're not done talking yet." Meliodas tilted his head to look at her, a mischievous grin plastered onto his face.
"Hey, sorry, but I gotta go buy supplies," he chirped, Hawk continuing to encase him in his wooden tomb. Her head hung low in defeat, Elizabeth quietly sighed to herself with a glum nod of the head.
Later on, Elizabeth left the tavern to meet Diane (with the whole day ahead there wasn't much to do). The warm sunlit the kingdom in a golden glow, not a cloud to be seen in the cerulean sky. Elizabeth tapped her shoes on the ashy stone ground, fidgeting with the edge of her dress as Diane swung her legs back and forth.
"The captain's not acting like himself?"
Elizabeth sadly hummed in reply with a gloomy face. Diane rubbed her chin in thought, squinting her purple eyes, thinking back to yesterday's events.
"Come to think of it, remember that huge tremor yesterday?"
Elizabeth lifted her head, her silver bangs bouncing a little. "Yes. Everybody was so surprised."
"Right after it happened, for a split second, the captain seemed really flustered." Diane paused, her eye quickly lighting up, "Oh! And there was that weird woman when the king gave out medals!"
Elizabeth sighed, peering towards the ground as she spoke. "I wonder what could've happened, or what that was about."
Diane giggled, "You're really watching the captain closely, aren't you, Elizabeth?"
Gasping, Elizabeth's cheeks heating up in a vibrant blush. "But anyone can see that Meliodas is acting strange, right?" Nervously, she played with her hair as a shy smile appeared on her face.
