2 months later, things were going well. Not too much jumping from the socs, you tried to not go out alone anymore. School was finally over, and Jesse had come home for the summer. He'd usually hang out with you and the gang, but he also had some other buddies he'd hang with.
The gang was going for a picnic, Darry had thought it'd be a nice idea. Darry had packed a bunch of stuff. Jesse came too.
Once you got to some park out of town, you all helped set up the stuff for the picnic. The park was mostly grassy. Separated from the grass by a little stream was a beautiful flower field full of daisies.
"That's beautiful," you commented.
"Isn't it? We could watch the sunset from the little bridge across the stream," said Pony.
"That would be great." You kissed his soft lips.
"Hey lovebirds." It was Jesse.
"Get a room," said Dally.
"Do you see a room?" Pony asked.
"Whatever. Darrel says it's time to eat."
"Kay." You and Pony walked behind Jesse and Dally to the two picnic tables. You, Pony, Steve, and Soda sat at one and the rest of the gang sat at the other. Darry made salad, sandwiches, and he brought sodas, bags of chips, and pretzels.
After eating, you all played a game of football. Darry made sure to bring it. Soda didn't want to wear shoes. You were told by Pony that he didn't like shoes, he'd much rather run around in socks.
Later, after a few games of football, you decided to play truth or dare.
"Ok, who's first?" You asked.
"I'll go!" Soda yelled. You all were sitting on the grass. It was around six-thirty.
"Ok. Truth or dare."
"Uh..dare."
"Alright. I dare you to...Umm.." You went up and whispered in his ear, "take a sip of your drink and spit it in Steve's face."
"Fine." You sat back in your seat between Soda and Jesse. You were all sitting in a circle. Soda took a sip of his Pepsi and spit it in Steve's face.
"SODA! What the heck?"
"Hey, we're playing truth or dare. That was gonna happen at some point." Steve made a face at you. You smiled Darry gave him a napkin and he wiped his face off.
"I'll go next," you said.
"Ok. Truth or dare," said Two-Bit.
"Uh...dare."
"Kay." Two came up to whisper in your ear. "I dare you to kiss Soda."
"Dang it Two-Bit, I knew you were gonna say something like that."
"Do it." He covered his mouth and laughed.
"Ponyboy, I'm really, really sorry." You went up to Soda and quickly kissed him on the lips. Soda made a confused face then rolled his eyes at Two Bit. Ponyboy made a 'seriously' face at Two. He cracked up.
After truth or dare, Pony took you to watch the sunset on the bridge Darry made sure to do a whole photoshoot with the camera he'd just bought.
"Y/n, ok, the sun is in the perfect spot. Kiss Pony." You did what Darry said as you heard the click of the camera.
"Good. Now kick one leg out and point your toes." You did that. "Oh, Pony, hold her hands. Ok, good. Now kiss again." Click, click.
"Ok. Now just look at me and hold hands."
"Does he always do this?" You whispered from the corner of your mouth
"Whenever he gets a fancy-schmancy new gadget, yes." You giggled. Right before Darry was about to take the picture, the rest of the gang came and made faces and did silly poses.
Click, you heard from the camera.
"Darry, can we be done now?" Pony asked.
"Yeah. We're leaving soon." The rest of the gang went back to just hang a little. Pony took you to the daisy field. You both sat in the middle of the field. You leaned on Pony's shoulder.
"You're the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for."
"You're the best girlfriend anyone could ever ask for." You shivered a little, it got a little windy. You were only wearing a tee and a denim skirt. Pony put his sweatshirt around you.
"Aw, this smells like you."
"Shoot, what do I smell like?"
"Like cancer sticks and chocolate."
"Awe."
After a little bit, you decided to go back. You decided to be spontaneous and jump over the stream. So you backed up, ran, then jumped. You fell in. The stream was deeper than you thought. "Y/n!" you heard. You heard a splash as Pony jumped in, grabbed your waist, and swam back up. You caught your breath as Pony carried you and laid you down on the grass.
"You saved me."
"Because I love you."
You jerked up. "You what?!"
"You What?!" It was the gang.
"I love you," he repeated.
"Shoot Pony, I love you too." You kissed him.
"Oh my gosh. That escalated quickly," said Soda.
"You love her?" Jesse asked.
"Yes."
"That's three."
"Jesse!" You yelled. You rolled your eyes.
"Cmon sis. We gotta go home."
"Bye guys!"
"Bye!"
"I love you Pony." You kissed him. "Bye."
"Bye. I love you too."
When you got home, you told your mom all about your day. It had been a long one. Pony had never even taken his sweatshirt back.
