~ chapter 7 ~

 The next morning was Memorial Day. You had off from school. You slowly sat up. Johnny was still on the couch sleeping. He was wearing different clothes from last night. He had a bruise on his cheek, and the scrape on his arm was still there. Ponyboy was in the kitchen making breakfast. He looked annoyed.

"Pony, Hey, you look annoyed with something."

"Oh, hey y/n. Yeah. Soda put blue food coloring in the milk."

"What?"

"So now the pancakes are gonna be blue."

"I think it's cool."

"Cmere," he said.

"What?" You got off from sitting on the table and walked over. He dipped you and kissed your lips.

"Uh, hello?" Johnny had woken up. You stood up and looked at Pony.

"Well, Uh... morning Johnny....um.." you said.

"Uh, how'd you sleep?" Pony asked.

"Good, but then I woke up and the whole world turned upside down."

"Heh."

"When did this happen? Does anybody else even know?"

"Last night. And the only other person that knows is Soda," you said.

"Ok, uh,"

"Just don't tell Darry, Johnny, please," you said.

"Alright. But can you not do that, like, when people are looking at you?"

"Yeah," said you and Pony at the same time. The door to Pony's room opened and Sodapop came out, dressed in a tee-shirt and jeans. His messy hair had no grease in it.

"Wow Soda, you look very awake," said Johnny sarcastically.

"Ah shoot it, Johnny, I just woke up," said Soda, smiling. He walked over to Johnny and messed up his hair. Johnny fixed it again.

"I'm gonna go change. Hey, do any o y'all know where Darry is?" Soda said.

"Haven't seen him. Probably still sleepin," said Ponyboy.

"Yeah. Someone should wake him."

"He'll wake up soon enough." Soda went back into his bedroom to change. You, Johnny, and Pony sat on the couch.

"Hey, we should have a barbecue. Y know, for Memorial Day," you said.

"Yeah, we'll have the gang over," Pony said.

"Anybody else?"

"Ain't your ma comin back today?"

"Oh yeah, y'all should meet her!"

"When's she gettin back?" asked Johnny.

"Uh..." As soon as you said that you heard a knock at the door. Darry came rushing out of the bedroom. Soda came out of the bathroom, slipping a tee over his head. Darry was dressed for the day with a maroon flannel and black tee-shirt and jeans. Darry scrambled to the door. He opened it and you saw your mom. There was a tall boy next to her with dark brown hair wearing a white tee shirt. It was greased to one side. You ran to the door.

"Jesse!"

"Y/n!" You ran up to your brother and hugged him. "What are you doing here?" you said, looking up at him.

"No classes today, so I decided to come up and see y'all. I called ma and she came to pick me up."

"Oh, that's so great!"
