You and Pony spent every day together. Once school started, you made sure to show that you were both taken. Pony loved to read you books during recess. You always said I love you to each other. You called him Ponybaby sometimes. Once a week, you would sleepover at his house. You were would both sit on his bed and he would read to you until you fell asleep. You were barely awake when you felt Darry lay you both down and tuck you in. "Good night you two," he said. After he left, you and Pony cuddled closer and fell asleep within seconds.
"Morning Ponybaby."
Ponyboy yawned. "Mornin."
"Wakey Wakey, Eggs and bacey!" yelled Darry from the kitchen.
"Cmon, I'm hungry," you said. You both walked to the kitchen.
"Oh no," I whispered.
"What's your bag, y/n?" Darry asked.
"My mom, she didn't know I was staying overnight."
"I called her."
"Oh thank you so much, Dar."
"Anytime." After breakfast, the gang had come over. Jesse was having a day with his friends from high school. You all decided to just walk around downtown, maybe you'd find something to do.
"Cmon, you've never even taken a drag of your brother's cig?"
"No Two-Bit. I've barely even held a cancer stick."
"You wanna try?"
"No."
"Aw baby, just put it in your mouth. It looks tuff," said Ponyboy.
"Here, take it," Johnny smirked and said.
"Fine." You snatched the weed from his hand. "I'll put it in my mouth. If it'll make y'all shut your traps." You rolled your eyes and started walking backward so the whole gang could see. "There, happy?"
"Aw, my tuff baby." He kissed you on the cheek. "Yea, Yea. I'll walk around with it. Whatever." You smirked and rolled your eyes. You didn't really mind the smell anymore, Dally had smoked around you a lot and the rest of the gang did too sometimes.
"Cmon let's go into the diner, see what there is to eat and do."
"I swear Dallas if you cause any trouble," said Darry.
"Oh it's a diner, what could I possibly do." Darry quietly told something to Dal. He made a very annoyed face.
"Darrel, you don't ever mention that day again," said Dally as he started walking backward and pointing at Darry. Johnny and Pony smiled at each other and started laughing.
"You two swore."
"Chill Dal. We ain't gonna do nothing."
"Cmon, let's go in," said Soda.
The diner smelled like maple syrup and coffee. You all just ordered a bunch a pancakes for the table. After the diner, you decided to ditch the idea of walking around and go back to the Curtis's. But first Dally said that he wanted to go get a different jacket, so he demanded you all go to Buck's.
"Well, what a crowd this early."
"Shut it, Buck, I'm just running upstairs."
"Okay." Dallas ran upstairs and when he came back down, he wasn't wearing a jacket at all.
"I thought you were getting a different jacket," you said.
"Too hot."
When you got back to the Curtis', Two-Bit put on some Elvis you danced almost all day. In the evening, right before the sunset, Pony took your hand and started running.
"WE'RE GOING TO THE PARK!!" Pony yelled. He ran out the door as you heard Darry yell, "KAY!"
"Cmon, this is my favorite spot to watch the sunset." You both climbed on top of the monkey bars.
"Wow. The clouds look like cotton candy."
"Don't they?"
"I love you so much Pony."
"I love you too." Suddenly, he kissed you, softly but for a long time, right until the sun had set.
"What'd you do that for?" you asked.
"I had to seize the moment."
