Everything's Changed. (Akaashi X Reader)

The drive back to your house was short as your mom didn't live far from Karasuno. The sun had set already and you knew it'd probably be an early night for the boys.

When you arrived home, you were greeted by your mom who was just finished tucking in the twins to bed.

"Y/n!" She smiled as she pulled you into a tight hug.

"Hey mom."

"How was the game?"

"It was good, very entertaining." You smiled as you pulled away from the hug.

"I saved some of dinner for you guys if you're hungry."

You looked over to the boys whos eyes all lit up. "I think that's a yes."

Your mother smiled as she left to grab the food from the fridge and started to heat it up.

"You guys can go into the same rooms as before okay?" You smiled.

"Okay!" Bokuto smiled as he walked past you with his bag. Akaashi following right behind him.

"You seem happy." Yakeru said, taking your attention.

"I am."

"I'm happy that he makes you happy."

You gave him a confused look.

"Akaashi-san, I noticed at the gym, you couldn't take your eyes off of each other."

You let out an awkward chuckle. "Yes Yakeru, he makes me happy."

"I'm glad." He smiled as he left for the bathroom. "I'm gonna go shower mom, I'll eat after okay?"

"Okay hun!"

You decided to take your bag into your old room and then work your way back to the kitchen where your mom was. Bokuto and Akaashi were coming in as well.

"There's another bathroom in moms room if you guys want to shower." You told the boys. 

"You go first Akaashi, I want to eat first!" Bokuto smiled.

"Towels are in the first closet door and mom's room is the last one down the hall." You smiled to Akaashi.

He nodded and left for the bathroom.

"Here you go guys." Your mom smiled as she placed a mouth watering meal in front of you and Bokuto.

"Thank you Ms.Hana!" Bokuto smiled.

"Of course dear, it's good to see you again."

Bokuto smiled and started to dig in.

You stared down at your food and slowly started to eat. Your throat killed but you pushed as much food as you could. But in honesty, you just didn't feel hungry.

"Did you have fun Bo?"

He nodded with a mouth full of food. "I did! It was cool playing with my old school for a bit! Playing with Akaashi brought back lots of memories."

You smiled. "That's always nice."

He smiled. But you had to laugh when you noticed that he had a few crumbs on his face. You pointed to them and he quickly cleaned his face off with the back of his hand.

Your mother laughed at the two of you.

It wasn't long till Akaashi came back and took a seat next to you. Bokuto of course was done his food already and walked off to go shower.

"Thank you for the food." Akaashi said to your mother.

She gave him a soft smile.

"Y/n? Wanna go see what's keeping Yakeru? He should be done showering by now."

You nodded as you left the table to find Yakeru.

"Akaashi?" Your mother asked.

"Yes ma'am?"

She laughed. "Please you don't have to be formal with me."

He smiled.

"I'm glad you're dating my daughter..I know she's not really my kid but I love her like she was my own. I've watched her grow up with those empty eyes of hers. She had the same look when she found out about her condition..but you brought that light back into her eyes. She may have lost it for now, but when she looks at you, I can see it shine through just a tiny bit...so thank you."

Akaashi swallowed his food before speaking. "You don't need to thank me Ms. Hana..I love her and I want her to be happy. I notice too when she loses the light in her eyes and I try my best to bring it back..I can't even begin to imagine what she's going through, but I'll stay till the very end."

Hana smiled at him with grateful eyes.

"Yakeru is *pant* is *pant...he f-fell asleep..." You said walking back into the kitchen and taking your seat back beside Akaashi.

"Stairs?" Akaashi asked.

You nodded but managed to give him a smile.

Your breathing was heavy as you tried to collect yourself.

"I'm sorry but I think I'm gonna go head to bed.." You said getting up from your chair and walking slowly to your room and closing the door.

Akaashi looked down to your plate and noticed that you barley ate anything on the plate.

"How long has that been happening?" Hana asked as she looked the direction you walked off to. She looked devastated.

"Since the hospital...she's been having trouble with walking..but the worst was when I saw her come out of the bathroom, she couldn't even move.."

"The steam?"

"Yeah..."

Hana nodded. "I see..I guess this was gonna happen sooner or later...It just hurts to see her in pain like that..although she'd never show you."

Akaashi nodded. He then stood up to wash his plate and yours as well, but your mom stopped him. "It's okay hun, I'll clean up. You should go check on her."

Akaashi nodded and walked towards your room. 

He gave a small knock on the door.

"Come in." You said, but immediately started to cough. You tried to hide it and choke it down when you saw it was Akaashi.

He walked over to you and sat next to you, he started to rub your back softly.

"What did I say before darling? Let it out."

You nodded as you couldn't hold back anymore. The cough was dry but it had a slight wheezing sound to it. You hated being vulnerable like this.

Once the attack was done, you looked at Akaashi. "I'm sorry.."

"Don't be. Please stop apologizing okay?"

You nodded as you laid down on the bed. You tried to get comfortable but your lungs were on fire.

"I'm gonna go tell Bokuto that you went to bed..want me to stay here with you for the night?"

You nodded your head.

"Okay. I'll be right back." He brushed a hand across your cheek and smiled before leaving your room.

When he left, you clenched your chest in pain and closed your eyes tight. You tried to take deep breaths but the pain still stung.

It wasn't long till Akaashi was back and he crawled in bed next to you. He pulled you into his chest and you listened to his heart beat. 

"I know this might sound weird or cheesy..but I like listening to your heart beat..It's calming."

He chuckled. "It's not weird, cheesy yes, but it's also cute."

"Keiji?"

"Yes darling?"

"I love you."

He smiled. "I love you too y/n."
