Everything's Changed. (Akaashi X Reader)

Classes weren't supposed to start for another two days.
You took that time to explore around the university and navigate where your classes were.

There was of course a tour being held but just wanted to explore on your own, to your own pace.

You first found where the bathrooms and cafeteria was.
You weren't super excited to have to share a huge bathroom and showers, as it kinda grossed you out, but you would grow used to it.

You entered the cafeteria to see lots of students sitting around and chatting.
Many had been stuffing their face with food for breakfast.

You walked over to the vending machine and grabbed a simple granola bar.

Your medication usually made you have a queasy stomach in the morning, so you refrained from anything too heavy in the morning.

You were about to turn for the door when you heard your name being called.

You turned around as you recognized his voice.

"Hello Bokuto..."
Once you were fully turned around, you noticed someone bedside him.

Your eyes grew wide at his stunning blue-green eyes.
He was indeed very pretty...

The tips of your ears glowed red from embarrassment.

"What you up to y/n?" Bokuto spoke up.

You gave him a weak smile. "Just exploring.."

"You didn't follow the tour?"

You shook your head.

"Akaashi here didn't either, I'm showing him around if you wanna join us?"

You took a deep breath. "Maybe some other time Bokuto, it was nice to meet you Akaashi, I'm y/n l/n, but please call me y/n.."
You felt your throat tickle as you knew what was coming, you turned on your heels quick and practically ran for the doors, holding your breath you turned for a corner and finally let out your cough.
You had shaken breathes as you finally were done with your fit.

"Are you okay?" You hear someone ask.

You look up to see those blue-green eyes, in this lighting, you noticed them to be more blue.

"I'm fine.." Your voice had cracked.

"Are you sure? That sounded pretty bad.. Are you sick?"

Your heart skipped a beat. This was not the time to tell them about your condition.
"I'm okay, it was just a tickle.."

"Some tickle.." Akaashi had murmured but you heard him loud and clear.

"I'll see ya guys.." You said awkwardly as you started to walk away.

Bokuto had looked over to Akaashi, he seemed quite worried. "I'd she really okay? That cough sounded like it hurt a lot.."

Akaashi nodded to his friend. "I'm sure she's fine."
Little did Bokuto know, he himself was also quite concerned.

You sat in your room, going over your classes and what they'll be like.
You gave up trying to find them today, as your coughing wouldn't stop.
You grew more nervous as the day went on.
First, you didn't know how hard these classes were going to be.
Second, you didn't like how Bokuto and Akaashi found you in a coughing fit.
Third, when exactly will your roommate move in?

Your heard a small knock on your door.
Leaving your laptop you walked over to see who it was.
Opening the door there stood Bokuto, Akaashi next to him.

You shook your head at them. "Hello, Bokuto, Akaashi."

"We're about to go get lunch at the caf, wanna join us?"  Bokuto smiled.

You pondered for a moment. "I guess so.."

His smile grew even wider as you grabbed your room key to leave.

"Are you feeling better y/n?" Bokuto asked as the three of you walked into the cafeteria.

You looked at Bokuto with soft eyes, you could hear us concern for you loud and clear.
"I'm okay, it happens a lot, just a tickle, nothing to worry about."

"Oh okay!" He tried to seem happy. Akaashi stayed quiet.

You didn't notice but he kept glancing your way through the corner of his eyes.

Walking into the busy cafeteria, making you feel a bit claustrophobic, you took small, deep breaths. It was lucky that the boys didn't notice.

You payed for a simple (Fav/Food) and followed the boys to an empty table.

"So you went to Karasuno huh? Do you know a kid named Hinata!?!" Bokuto asked, mouth full of food.

"Bokuto-San.. Don't talk with your mouth full." Akaashi grumbled.

You smirked at the two. "Sorry no."

"Awe...he was part of the boy's volleyball team!"

You nodded your head slowly. "I see.."

"What's your major y/n?"

Your heart skipped a beat as Akaashi spoke.
His voice also sounded pretty.

"Um.. I'm here for animation.."

"That's so cool! So you can draw? I'd totally have to see some of your work." Bokuto gleamed.

"You guys?" you cleared your throat, feeling a tad embarrassed.

"I'm here on a scholarship! I'm currently on the volleyball team here!" Bokuto smiled, again with a mouth full of food.

"I'm here for writing." Akaashi bluntly said.

"Did you play volleyball too?" You asked him.

He nodded as he continued to eat. He didn't say another word.

Oookay then...

"He was Fukurodani's setter! He was captain last year!" Bokuto bragged for him.

"That's cool, you don't wanna continue volleyball?" You tried desperately to hold the conversation.

He took a moment to answer, swallowing  his food.
"It was something I liked in highschool, I don't really see myself playing any further."

You nodded slowly.. You felt a tickle in your throat as you lightly coughed into your sleeve, trying not to make it obvious.

But Akaashi noticed, and he gave you a concerned but weird look.

You cleared your throat."So..why did you exactly ask me to join you guys? I only met you one time Bo...i don't mean to be rude.. Just curious."

"Because you seemed cool! A d I wanted to make sure that you were feeling better after earlier."

You nodded slowly again. Not speaking another word.

The three of you ate in peace, you didn't mind their company, but getting close like this is not you wanted.
Friends..
Not really something you want...
It was bad enough that knowing that you were gonna hurt your siblings and your foster mother, when you passed...you didn't really want to hurt more people..
