Chapter Fifteen

"Sarah love, you need to wake up and we need to get to the house now baby" Steve said in an urgent voice. That voice woke me right up and I sat up a little too quickly.

Steve grabbed my hand and helped me up, "what's going on?" I asked, trying to clear my head. "Nothing much but we fell asleep, and we should get into the house" he was saying as he kept a hold of my hand and walked me into the house.

Once we were in there, he called the guys over to us and locked the door. "What's going on?" asked Eric. "Here I think this you should read" Steve handed over a note.

All three of the guys were reading it and Eric's face went red and the other two I couldn't read, which I think wasn't a good thing. 

 "Sarah, I need you to stay in the house and close up the blinds and lock the windows upstairs please and one other request but its non-negotiable, you are sleeping downstairs with all four of us for the next few nights" Eric said in a voice so deep that it sent shivers down my spine.

"I want to know what in the hell is going on and why is everyone acting like this for?" I demanded to know. The guys looked at Steve and he nodded his head yes.

"Okay Sarah, when Steve woke up in the barn a bit ago, he saw this note attached to your shirt" Eric said as he gave Sarah the note. She carefully opened it up and she read it over once and went to the bathroom and threw up. Once her stomach was empty, she went to the kitchen and got a glass of iced tea with lemon and sat down at the kitchen table.

Taking a deep breath, she opened the letter and reread it.

"My Dearest Sarah,

I see that you have followed what I wrote in the last note about starting a relationship with Steve, he is a good man, but after what I saw was not what I intended to be happening, the one night while I was staying with you, I watched you while you slept. I vowed I was going to make you mine, then I kissed those soft lips.

 You stirred a little bit, and softly moaned. You don't realize how hard you made me, hell woman you still make me hard as hell just thinking about you. You are made for me only; you don't realize how hard it was not to kill Steve earlier when you both were fucking each other. You are mine and I will have you and make you my wife and mother for our children. 

 Oh, by the way, did you figure out that we already had sex once and that I made sure I put my seed into you, multiple times that night? You wouldn't remember because I drugged your drink, but I made sure that you were wet and ready for me. See you soon my love.

Love Devon"

I turned around and noticed all four guys were standing by the door not sure if a nuclear reaction was about to go off. Steve wanted to come over to me, but he also saw my breathing was not a steady easy-going kind.

"I'm fine guys, I'm not going to explode, just everything makes since now, things that just weren't right in my mind, but I couldn't figure it out why it wasn't adding up" I said letting out a breath that seem to deflate me. 

The three guys went around the house and made sure everything was secure and locked up tight. They placed cameras around the house inside, and trip wire at the doors.

They went all out, but then again after that note that was left a few hours ago, they were ready for him.

Steve took me over to the couch and we turned on a movie to try and take my mind off of the letter. He knew it bothered me, but I know it really bothered him, that everything that happened to me, and he couldn't protect me.

I cuddled up against Steve and rested my head on his chest as we watched the movie, I could feel my eyes closed, I felt safe with being in his arms, and I will admit I am glad Eric, Todd and Dirk were there with us.

As I drifted off to sleep, I heard Steve whisper "Sarah, I will always protect you, and when this is all over my love, I will ask you to marry me" then he kissed the top of my head.

I know he thought I was asleep and didn't hear him, but I did and the smile on my face I couldn't stop it, I finally found my other half, even though I fought it for so long, I could breathe easy knowing he wasn't going anywhere. 

For the next three days everything was all too quiet. I helped Steve on his farm while the guys stayed behind making sure Devon didn't sneak into the house. Since I didn't have any animals, I wasn't worried about the barns just yet.

A few of the other deputies that worked under Steve took turns staying at his house also. Everyone was on high alert for Devon, he was sneaky, so no one was allowed to let their guard down.

I had become friends with the mare that Steve was giving me. In the indoor arena, he taught me how to ride. She was the sweetest horse that I had ever seen.

Her favorite treat of course was sugar cubes and I always made sure to have a bunch on hand, best way to become fast friends with an animal that with one kick can seriously hurt or kill you.

But I don't think she has a mean bone in her body, she would follow me around the pastures when I would help Steve water and throw out new hay in the bins for them.
