Nightingale's POV
The leaders of all the soldiers, together with the Paladins and the other head of the Ethereal warriors, are forming a circle before the dying bonfire. And when I got there, it seems Ethan has already finished explaining the plan with them.
"Mademoiselle?" Tyra called while walking towards me.
"About the rescuing of the prisoners" she said after stopping in front of me.
"About that, you and your team will be taking my boys with you. The footmen should be able to secure your way before you get into their castle"
"Yes mademoiselle, we have already considered that knowing that you don't want them to get too much into the fighting. What I wanted to ask is about their current lord, should we take him with us?"
"What made you think of that?" I asked.
"We just thought that we would be able to lessen the deaths by capturing their lord" Cougar said and the thought made me chuckled. I joined them in their circle and sat down.
"The Elysian won't care about losing anyone so as long as they can win at the end of the game. They're not some loyal and emotional beings to start with. They would only act towards their lord or any accomplices if they found out they had betrayed them" I explained while staring into the fire beside us.
"About the plan, you and Sophie won't be standing on the frontlines but behind our very last army. We can't afford losing any of you before we could even win this" Ethan said but I didn't bother looking at him but I still protested.
"Do you think I'm an easy meat Ethan? I understand what you mean but I can't just stand here and watch our people die while fighting"
"They are willing to fight until their last--"
"But that doesn't mean I'll let them. As much as possible I would not want any casualty, but that can't be right? But if I can prevent the increase of--"
"What will you do then? Duplicate yourself and protect all of us?" Ethan's voice rose in irritation or maybe even anger.
"Lady Belier, we are deeply touched by your desire to keep us all alive but please let us do our duty and die in honour. We came here letting our family know that there might be none of us to get back but they understood that we are doing this for them and for our descendants-to-be. I will make my men promise to fight for life and never give up until this ends. I'll also relay your heart warming concern over us. But I ask you, Lady Belier, to accept however this war ends for us" one of the lords said that was echoed with agreement and thanks by the other lords.
"My father's army is already making their way here. We should be able to outnumber the Elysian army with our total forces. They'll be here before we are crushed" Cougar informed which roused a breath of relief from the lords.
"Our healers will be coming shortly too to provide aid for the wounded" Tyra added.
"Well Angel? Should you still have anything to worry about after hearing those?" I heard Hale say that made me sigh, just look who is talking.
"I want to ask the Paladins about the ritual we are to do afterwards" I said and looked up to see each of their faces. Most of the men looked away from me and it only means that they have not familiarized the dance and song yet.
"Don't worry sister, I'm sure they will find the rhythm in their hearts once we get there" Sophie reassured.
One by one, the lords are going back to their camps to get some sleep, and even the fellow Ethereals too. I sat here until they all left, most of them actually because the Paladins are still here.
