Chapter 8- doing what's right

"Retard." I mumble as Cole falls on his butt trying to skateboard. "You try then." He smirks shoving the skateboard into my hands. "Gladly." I smirk back.

I grab the skateboard and get on. I flip it landing perfectly on it. I smirk at Cole who's mouth is open. "Shut your trap." I laugh sitting down beside him. "You did that on purpose. The great Nova can do anything." He laughs with a wink at me. "Hey buddy you provoked this." I smile kissing his cheek.

He flinches as soon as I do it. What's the matter with him? "Uhm. I gotta... I gotta go." I stammer standing up and walk over to my car. "Nova. Just stop." Cole says catching up to me.

"Cole just let me go. I have some stuff to do." I lie. "Your lieing to me." He frowns. "Why? Why did you flinch?" I ask tears forming in my eyes. I look away because I don't want Cole to see me cry.

"I-you just caught me off guard."he stammers. "You're lieing to me." I mock him. He looks away letting out a frustrated sigh and runs his fingers through his hair. We stand there in utter silence

"Did you really regret asking me out?" I ask breaking the silence. "No Nova I don't regret it." He sighs pulling me closer to him. "Then why do you act like it lately?" I ask my voice shaky. "You won't let anyone know we are dating either." I add. "I'm trying to protect you." He sighs.

"From what? Or are you trying to protect yourself? I'm just the girl no one liked. I'm the nerdy girl. The one no one would date." I yell at him the tears coming full force now.

"Nova it's not like that at all." He says. "I'm not so sure. Did you think i was a nerd? Because Cole when you're smart it doesn't make you a nerd. Or wearing glasses." I growl.

"Those kids you and your friends picked on are misrable. Johnny the "nerdest" he comitted suicide because of you idiots." I add yelling at him. "You thought it was funny. And Karina she's not some annoying southern. She's actually a better friend then you were."

"Nova I didn't mean to. That was the past i've changed Nov. Mainly for you but also because I couldn't stand seeing you look at me like i'm some monster! I'm sorry I caused you pain okay? Do you not know how bad I felt? Nova I resented the way I treated you and those kids. And Karina gees I hated seeing her the way she was also. Nova she's my cousin and I treated her like crap." Cole fires back yelling.

"Why didn't you change before that boy commited suicide? Why didn't you make a differance before now? No one should be treated like they are crap." I growl. There is a few moment of silence. "I saw what you did for Johnny the other day." I add sighing.

"What?" He asks. "I saw you at his grave sight. I was there." I sigh. "I know it means nothing because he's gone but I had to tell him I was sorry." Cole sighs sliding to the ground. I sit down beside him and look over at him. "This was out first couple fight." I say shoving my shoulder at his.

"Nova i'm so so sorry I treated you and Karina and all those kids like you didn't matter." He sighs wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "I think it's best those kids hear it from you. I also think it's best you tell Karina your sorry in person also." I smile weakly at him.

"Your right. Will you be with me?" "every step of the way." I smile.

"Hey Kar." I smile at my best friend. "Hey so I didn't see you all week. Where were you?" She asks. "I was sick and busy fighting with Cole." I say. "You two had a fight?" She asks stunned. "Yeah. Actually it was just a small fight. Well unless you call fighting in public small then yeah." I say.

I watch as Cole makes his way over to my table at lunch. He looks like he's about to explode. I shrug it off when he sits down. He's a little tense when Karina glares at him. I know this is probably the best time for ihim to say he's sorry.

"Uh Karina I wanted to tell you i'm sorry about everything. I treated you like dirt in middle school and I regret it everyday." He says taking a breath. "Your sorry?" She asks with a smile.

"I am actually." He sighs. "Well i'll only forgive you if you take me for food after school." She smirks. "Kar!" I laugh. "Deal." Cole says.

I look over to Coles friends who are glowering at me and I just smirk and give then a small wave. This year is going to be way differant. I'm not going to let those meatheads ruin my life anymore. Even if it means the girlfriends beat the mess out of me.

I'm tired of those people thinking they own the school. I'm growing a backbone and have girl power. I'm going to stand up for whats right and it's keeping those kids I have protected all my life safe. They deserve to be happy just like anyone else.

"I'll be right back." I smirk at Cole and Karina. I walk over to where Drew is. Which is with those snobs. I sit down beside him and smile. "What are you doing?" Whitney asks me. "Just give me two minutes and i'll be out of your hair." I smirk at her. "Fine." She grumbles.

"Drew you can make a differance. I know you hate it when people pick on others. You're better then these people." I whisper to him. "How can you see good in me when i've been horrible to you?" He asks.

"Because you'll always be that little boy who rescued me from a giant mean dog. You'll always be my best friend." I smile at him. "Even if being friends with me means giving up your popularity, I know you better than anyone." I add standing up.

He stands up with me and smiles wrapping his arms around me. "You better be glad I love you." He says into my hair. "Where are you going man?" Josh asks. "To sit with my real friends." He says walking away with me. "I'm sorry Nova I should have never picked being popluar over my best friend." He says.

"I'll forgive you if you buy me food this afternoon." I laugh. "Hey thats my line!" Karina laughs when we sit down. "I'm also sorry I didn't pick you over them." Drew says wrapping his arm around Katrina.

"Yay! The unstoppable four are back together!" Karina whines happily. I laugh as my phone goes off with a tweet and I quickly check it.

I smile at Cole and he smirks back. I shove my phone into my backpack and lean over and kiss Cole on the lips. "Maybe fighting with you is the answer." Cole says pulling away smiling.

I've managed to get my best friend back together, change Drew and Coles minds, but there are a few issues I still have to work out with Cole.

"Uhm hi." Cole says to the kids he's picked on since the sixth grade. They all go to leave and have frightened looks on their faces until they see me. "It's okay guys Cole wants to taln to you." I smile. They all nod and sit back down.

"Look i'm sorry I was always picking on you. I have regreted that. I hope you can maybe forgive me." He says looking down. "Your saying sorry?" Lana asks. "Yeah. I've been shown by someone special your all the same as me. And I hated what i've done." He answers.

"Is this some kind of Joke?" Lizzie asks. "No it's not." I reply. They smile and forgive Cole on a level. They still think of him as a bully. Which I don't blame them they have every right to think of him that way.

I'm just glad he is being a bigger person and saying sorry to people he's been rude to. A idiotic and stupid jerk in some words. Drew has tried to make amends with Karina and I it's gonna take more than just a sorry to get on Karina's good side.

We sit back down with Drew and a very red Karina. I can't put my finger on to as why she's so red but it could be anything.

The Unstoppable four has never and will never be the same. We might as well say we will be better, have a stronger friendship, and alway be together for as long as we can.
