Chapter 14

Max was locked in his office. The news of Jeff's death was still hard to accept. Max looked at the picture of him and Jeff, he remembered the time they spent together. Max and Jeff had been partners for years, and over the years their bond grew bigger. Max didn't see Jeff as a partner but as a family member. One the cultures Mr Clark instilled in Clark Solutions was family values, everyone saw each other as family.

Max shakes his head. A knock on the door was heard.

"Enter." Max says as he wipes the tears.

Ralph entered.

"It still feel unreal that Jeff is gone for good." Ralph says as he walks towards the chair.

"It really hard to accept it."

"Have you informed Benjamin?"

Max shakes his head. "No, he'll see on the news probably. You know the media never miss such news. Jeff, didn't deserve to die like this."

"Who ever is doing this is definitely coming after us one by one. It only the two of us that remain of the Clark Solutions originals, that really sad. We just keep on losing the ones we love." Ralph says.

Max sighed. "We have to get revenge for Jeff, for Mr Clark. We can't fail them now." Max said as he stood up.

"I'm one hundred percent behind you, Max. We just need that lucky break to make progress on this investigation."

Max walks towards the window. "We have our lucky break. If Luke's aunt tell us who Luke was working for then we may finally have our revenge we longed for." Max says with hope in his voice.

Max was pining all his hope on Luke's aunt to bring them closer to who Luke was working for. Finding the employer of Luke would solve the mystery that has been stressing them since Mr Clark death. One thing Max conceded about the people after them was they've an ability to stay in the shadows, they never leave crucial evidence that would incriminate them. Max thought maybe Luke's death was damage control for Luke's employer. It made no sense to Max what other reason made them murder Luke, it was clear that the employer of Luke was running a tight ship, he or she didn't want any mistakes that would compromise his or her organization.

"What's on your mind? You been silent for a while." Ralph asked.

"I'm just thinking about Luke's boss. He or she is ruthless, smart, very organized and cunning. We must know underestimate him or her. This people have nearly brought us to our knees." Max says as he turns and looks at Ralph.

"We better find them before they strike again." Ralph say cautiously.

Max looks at his watch. "It time we paid Luke's aunt a visit. She better tell us what we need."

Max and Ralph walked out the office.
