"be careful though," damon warned as i pulled off. "don't want to use up all your good luck."

i laughed, confused. "pardon?" i asked, wondering what he was talking about.

"it happens to me all the time," he turned to face me as we drove towards an impending red light. "you see, usually when three good things happen to me, one really really bad thing follows."

NOVEMBER 4th. soon to be the worst day of my life. let me explain how it happened.

during that period of time, our new album 'the irritable now' had topped the charts, knocking 'simply red' from their number one spot. the album had sold over two million copies worldwide in the first week of its release. the interviews were lined up for us, the endless amount of parties, the festival dates; everything was happening quickly and we couldn't keep track of everything that was occurring to us as a group.

"that interviewer was doing my fuckin' head in, i swear to god." sarah grumbled, as the group walked out of the office in the nme building. we had just finished an infuriatingly nosy interview with an infuriatingly nosy journalist. the amount of personal questions kept coming: was sarah a drug addict? was michael the 'forgotten member of the band?', did colin have an affair with candida doyle? and the most pushed question of all: was amber going out with damon albarn?

"i know, thank fuck it's over." colin unlocked his car door and allowed the four of us inside the vehicle.

"it's not though," i sighed, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hands. "we still have that bloody top of the pops performance later. at least miki is hosting tonight. always liked her, lovely girl."

miki was one of the first few people i'd gotten to know in the music industry. even though we didn't speak as much as we'd like to or that we weren't able to meet up for a coffee or a drink due to conflicting schedules, i knew i could rely on her: from the crying over liam to the stress of being newly in love with damon, miki was there to listen and act like my cool older sister.
