"GRAHAM, WHAT happened?" i sat down next to my friend, who was sipping away on a vodka and coke, staring blankly into the abyss. his eyes were tinted red, dried out from crying. he turned to face me, sniffing as he did so.

"i," he stuttered, fixing the position of his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "i got the um, the urge to tell sarah how i felt again and well, um...i...i caught her making out with alex and-"

he started sobbing again, holding his head in his hands. it broke my heart, really, seeing him like this. it was meant to be a celebratory night but now half the band had cried at some point throughout the celebration. it was quite miserable in general, really; alex and graham weren't speaking to each other over a girl and it was putting a strain on the four of us. i could tell that by the time we finished the album, we'd hate it. it wasn't what we were about. besides, i was already beginning to despise 'country house'.

"trust me, graham," i grabbed hold of his face, squishing his cheeks. "it's not over yet! you still have the chance to win sarah over. i know you love her much more than alex does."

"but, but how? how damon?" he began to shake in frustration, wobbling in a drunken manner as he rose from the bar stool. "how am i supposed to prove to her that i love her more than that bass twanging twat?"

i laughed. even at his lowest point, he could afford to crack a joke or two. that was when i got an idea. "you know," i slung an arm around his tensed up shoulders. "you could always invite her to ibiza?"

"but you have to pay for that!" he protested, shaking his head 'no.' but, if i was in the same situation, i'd want someone to help me out.

"doesn't matter. money isn't an issue for us, anyways. you have one more chance of winning sarah over, so why stop now? look," i placed my large hands on his shoulders. "you love this girl don't you?" graham nodded, sniffing as he stared into my eyes. "well then, she's worth fighting for. remember what you told me on new year's?"

"it was overdramatic and cheesy. she doesn't want me. she has alex. every girl would rather have a confident, good looking guy like him. i'm just a nerdy introvert who can barely say hello to my dog." graham cringed, resting his cheek on his clenched fist. i shook my head.
