Chapter Five

The next morning at school, Enny didn’t stop telling Sasha of how amazing the dance was last night.

          “Hello guys.” Adam said approaching Enny’s locker.

          “We talked and talked for a while and then I apologized for being rude that time and he kissed me.” Enny continued her story after being interrupted by Adam’s ‘hello’.

          “Awww” Sasha smiled.

          “What?” Adam was not in support.

          “It was on the cheeks.” Enny replied to Adam laughing at his face reaction.

          “That’s better.” Adam felt relieved.

          “You’re weird Adam.” Enny giggled and talked about the last dance.

Keith walked by Enny’s locker.

          “Hey Enny.” He smiled to one side of his face.

Enny just wove at him and smiled.

          “Really!?” Adam felt confused. “I thought you only liked the dream guy you always wrote about?”

          “She now likes a real guy.”

“It feels like he’s the guy I’ve been writing about in my hard cover book. He fits my dream guy perfectly. He’s perfect.” Enny replied as they all walked into math class.

“Rachel’s new boyfriend is Kyle. Can you believe it?” Sasha looked at Enny.

“She’s gonna dump him really soon; I’ll talk to him.” Enny replied feeling it for her step-brother.

“Settle down class.” Their teacher started.

After school that day; Enny, Sasha and Adam went to one of their favourite places, Slurp Up to hang out.

          “Enny, how’s your art going? Maybe I can help?” Adam asked.

          “It’s going okay; you are creative so maybe you can give me some art tips?” Enny smiled.

“Anything for a friend,” Adam smiled back. 

“Aghhh! Brain freeze!” Sasha held her head really tight.

Enny and Adam laughed at Sasha. Sasha joined in.

Enny talked to her step-brother about Rachel and how she will soon dump him. He didn’t understand Enny.

“I get it. You’re jealous I have a girlfriend and you don’t have a boyfriend. Is that it?”

“No Kyle, it’s really not that. Don’t you know how many boyfriends she’s had before and don’t you know how they all end up? She dumps them a week after. You’re new to Westaisle and so you won’t know this but Rachel is using you.”

“I’m not new anymore, I’ve been here for a whole semester Enny, and I can handle things on my own. Stay out of my love life please and thank you.” Kyle walked out on Enny and then she put her head down.

“I’m sorry for trying to help!” Enny added but Kyle didn’t hear her.

-Ring Ring-

          “Hey Enny, it’s Adam.”

          “Hey Adam.” Enny replied.

Adam noticed the tune of Enny’s voice and said, “Your voice sounds different, are you okay? Want me to come over?”

          “Thanks Adam, I’ll be fine.”

          “Are you sure? Because you can tell me anything.” Adam insisted.

Enny smiled.

          “Thanks Adam. Why did you call?”

          “I um wanted to find out when you’ll need my help for the art contest?”

          “Anytime you’re free.”

          “Like...now?” Adam smiled.

          “Sure Adam you can come over.”

Adam laughed and dropped the phone, grabbed his bag pack. He crossed the road and walked over to Enny’s house.

Adam helped Enny and she submitted her first art work for the contest.

          “Thanks Adam. Now I have five more to go...if I get selected among the top 30 for this one.”

          “Nice. I know you will. You basically did all the work; I just sat by and watched you.” Adam and Enny laughed.

They ate cookies and watched a movie then Adam went back home.

          “See you at the stop.”

          “Okay. Bye Adam.”
