All the Small Things

We stand in silence outside for a couple seconds till I break it. “Well? Tell him what you told me!” I say. “Right, listen Cal, I-“ “My friends call me Cal” Calum says cutting her off. “Sorry, listen Calum, I’m really sorry for how I behaved when we were together. I see now that I made some mistakes and I’m sorry for that. I’m sorry for ever lying or cheating on you, I’m sorry for treating you like trash. Could you find it in your heart to forgive me somehow?” Lacey says. I look over at Ashton whose arms are crossed in disguised. I can’t help but quietly giggle at him. I know he heard me because he smirks a little and winks toward my direction.

“Let me tell you something Lacey” Cal starts.

Oh no. I have a feeling this is not heading anywhere up hill.

“You are the worst girlfriend I ever had, did you really think that I would forgive you after that, after everything you ever did. I know you, I know the game you’re playing. You are trying to get on everyone’s good side then you go and backstab them, then you think that they will forgive you because you are “so sorry”, and then you move onto a new group of people. I don’t want to see your face EVER again. Do you understand at least that?” Cal says. “Completely, sorry again Cal-, I mean Calum.” Lacey finishes. Ashton outs his arm around Cal and leads him back inside. I start to follow but then I hear my name get called.

“Sam!” I hear Lacey’s voice form behind me. “Yeah” I say turning around to face her one more time. “Funny story actually, my friend heard that Calum was living across the street from me and she invited him to a party. Her name is Kate, he knows her. He can bring ya’ll with him if he wants to go but I don’t think he will because I’m going to be there. Its tomorrow night.” She says handing me a ticket. “Kate’s Summer Jam” It reads. “Ya I’ll give it to him” I say. She smiles and nods. She turns on her heel and walks back in the direction of her house.

I walk back in the house and greeted by 6 heads sharply turning my way. “What?” I say sitting down. “What did she say to you just then?” Kat says. “Lacey’s friend heard that Calum was living across the street from her so she invited him to a party. It’s tomorrow and she says you can bring anyone you like.” I say pulling the ticket out from my pocket. “Are you kidding? No way Cal want to go to a party after th-“ “Who’s hosting the party?” Calum cuts off Luke. “A girl named Kate? Lacey said you knew who she was.” I say handing Cal the ticket. “Lets go to the party” Cal says putting the ticket in his pocket. “See? I told you Cal wouldn’t want- wait did you say we SHOULD go to the party?” Luke says. “I’m not gunna let an ex control where I go and who I see. Kate was a good friend and I haven’t seen her in a while” Cal says. “You all coming?” Cal says looking at all of us. “I don’t know, we should stay hear and work on songs and such for the tour. It’s coming up real soon and we need to be ready.” Kat says.

“I want to go though!” Mika says. Cal laughs and kisses her head. “Okay Mika you can go, Kat and I will stay here and work on band stuff” I say. “I wanna go!” Ashton says. “I’ll go” Michael adds. “Same” Luke says. “Alright it’s settled, Sam and I will stay here while ya’ll go to the party” Kat says. We all nod and continue watching TV till we fall asleep on the couch.

“Fast Forward to the end after everyone’s gone home” Luke sings. “Sam?” Mika says, the boys still singing in the back round. “Tonight will be my first party ever” She admits. “Mika don’t worry, Cal will take care of you I promise” I say giving her a hug. “So tell me again what we are doing? They sing then we sing?” Mika asks. “Yeah, they are performing one of their songs then after, we perform one of ours. They critique our performance and we critique theirs.” I say. Mika nods and we transfer our attention back on the boys.

“This is heartache on the big screen” They finish. “Awesome boys!” I say clapping. “Thanks babe” A sweaty Ashton pecks my lips and sits down. “Your turn” Cal says pulling Mika off the couch and taking her spot.

“Ash I’m using your drum set” I say laughing and sitting on the drum stool. “Fine. Mostly cause I don’t want to move them” He says laughing. “So we are doing a cover” Mika says grabbing her bass from the wall. “What’s the song?” Michael asks sitting on the couch and handing each of the boys a soda he got from the fridge. “You’ll just have to wait and see” Kat says adjusting Michaels mic stand to her height.

“1,2,3,4” I count us in and we start playing. At the first note, all the boys’ eyes widen in reorganization of the cover. “All the small things By: Blink 182!” Mikey exclaims. “I love this song!” Calum says dancing in his seat joined by the rest of the boys.

“All the small things

true care, truth brings” Mika sings.

“I’ll take one lift

your ride best trip” I sing and smile as the boys mouth the words as we sing them.

“Always I know

You’ll be at my show” Kat sings.

“Watching, Waiting Commiserating” I finish the verse laughing at the boys pretending to play instruments.

“Say it aint so,

I will not go,

Turn the lights off,

Carry me home” We all sing together including the boys.

We all play while Mika sings the long series of “Na’s” then comes the instrumental. I slip up a little and Ashton laughs.

We continue the throughout the song while the boys play their pretend instruments and mouth the words. I try not to laugh because it messes up my drumming but a little giggle comes out of me occasionally.

“Say it ain’t so,

Carry me home” We all sings as we get close to the ending of the song.

My little windmill” I sing, finishing the song.

“You guys rock!” Luke says clapping and the rest of them clap aswell. “Ya, that song is amazing I love it” Calum says. “Even with your little slip ups” Ashton says walking over to me and patting me on the back. “Shut up” I say laughing. “Don’t worry, the first couple times I played this song was rough. I made way more slip ups then you did. Here the part where you slipped is tricky I’ll teach you.” He grabs the drumsticks from my hand and plays it perfectly. I grab the drumsticks back and follow what he did perfectly. “Awesome!” He winks at me and I laugh.

We continue with band practice for 3 hours after that.

AN: Damn Cal's got some sass. But it makes sense since Lacey's a bitch. Anyways I personally dislike this chapter BUT WHATEVER. See you guys!
