Itna smirked, “So, about that sleeping arrangement."
“Together?" He asked curiously.
She shrugged“I’m okay with it if you are."
“Well, I’m fine with with it," he smiled.
“Then it’s settled. Now, on a more important topic, what do you want to eat?" She asked, standing up.
“Whatever you want," Mehk shrugged.
“You’re always going to do that aren’t you? Make me make all the decisions." Itna laughed. “Anyway," she looked around, “Have you ever heard of trout? It’s a fish. I read about it once, in a book, and it sounded amazing but... I don’t even know why I’m bringing it up... I wouldn’t even know where to get some..."
“Sorry, I don’t either..." He hugged her.
She smiled, hugging him back, “I guess it’s alright. We’ve got, umm, pomegranates. They’re pretty good. Better yet, we’ve got potatoes. They’re great."
After dinner, Mehk went to bed early. After tidying up a bit of the oasis, Itna went into the tent. Her eyes fell upon the sleeping Mehk, with his normal arm laid out as if inviting Itna to lay there next to him. She smirked, quietly walking over and lying down, using his arm like a pillow and pulling a blanket over both of them. He stirred slightly, but fell back asleep. Itna closed her eyes, drifting off into sleep.
Late that night, the moon hung over the oasis, watching the sandy dunes silently. Itna’s eyes shot open and she saw Mehk tensed up, trapped in a dream realm he clearly wanted to avoid. She shoke him lightly, “Hey, Mehk, wake up. It’s just a nightmare, It’s okay."
His eyes shot open as he gasped, he hugged her tightly, “Thank you so much for being there..." He smiled weakly. She hugged him back, smiling.
After kissing him, she looked at him curiously, “What was the nightmare about anyway?"
“Nothing." He replied hastily, looking away.
Itna took a step back, “Okay, I get it. Your dreams, your business. I love you."
He looked over at her, “I love you too. Do you want to... Cuddle?" He asked quietly. Purring loudly, she cuddled close to him. “God, I love that purr of yours." Itna ignored his comment and nuzzled his chest, getting comfy. Mehk stayed still, waiting until she was done. When he felt her lie still at last, he wrapped his arm around her, resting on her hip as they both drifted back off into a peaceful sleep.
