As they were making dinner, Mehk looked over, “Itna, how long, exactly, have you been out here by yourself?"

She shrugged, “I told you, as long as I can remember. I was just a kit when I woke up abandoned..." She frowned, but shook the feeling of sadness and ate a strawberry.

He stopped, turning towards her and hugging her tight. After stopping, his face was inches from hers. They looked into each others eyes, Itna frozen with the uncertainty of how to react. Suddenly, Mehk moved forward, connecting their lips. Itna felt tingles go down her spine at the kiss, her eyes slipping closed. Mehk broke the kiss, realizing what he just did and looked at her nervously. He stepped back, going back to what he was doing before. Itna stood frozen for a moment, then returned to her strawberries, unable to stop thinking about the kiss.

Dinner was quiet and after they cleaned up, Mehk stopped, “So, uhh, I didn’t get my shelter finished. Do you mind if I sleep in yours tonight?"

        She nodded, grinning, “Sure.”

She led him into the tent, “I’m sorry about what happened earlier... I don’t know what came over me. I apologize if I stepped out of line."

“It’s okay, did you like your strawberries?" She asked curiously.

“Yeah, they were tasty." His looked at her, his mechanical eye turning a beautiful deep red color.

She looked at his eye, leaning forward a bit to examine it, “That’s unique."

“W-what?" he asked. Noticing some difference the eye quickly changed back to it’s original green.

“Your eye. What’s that all about?" she tilted her head to the side.

“Oh, well, it has an emotion sensor that changes the color sometimes. Apparently, it was some experiment so it doesn’t work predictibly. What color was it?"

“Red, what does that mean?" she asked eagerly.

        “Hmm, dark or light?"

        “Dark, I think. So?"

“Oh that’s simple it’s lov- uhh, I mean... uhh, long-range calibration." He said hesitating at the last part.

        Itna began blushing, “Mehk?"

“Fine, I lied. It’s when I l-lo...” He looked down, lowering his voice to a slight whisper, “When I love..."
