I walked in the buzzing cafeteria with my paper bag in hand that contained my homemade burger. I was never in the mood to purchase food so here I had my now cold burger.
I scanned the room for a vacant table until my gaze landed on a table on the farthest corner of the left side. Without giving it a much thought, I claimed the seat and unwrapped the wet foil off my burger. Taking the chilisauce sachet from the bag, I emptied the contents into my burger. I was really a chili person. Before I could devour my meal, I heard the chair's metal screeching the floor.
"Busy huh?" My eyes found those crystal blue ones never missing the tug on his lips as a smirk. I avoided his gaze and question by taking a bite out of my burger.
I froze when Sawyer's thumb made contact with my lips as he wiped something out of it."You should eat carefully, you are smudging the tomato all over your mouth." He said it like it was a normal thing to be my personal napkin. I rolled my eyes at him but he didn't catch me.
"Dude who is the pretty girl with you?" My gaze shifted from my burger to the tall guy with dirty blonde hair that stood next to Sawyer. His arm was wrapped around a short, plump, redhead girl. Girlfriend was a mental note to myself.
"Rowdey, he's Rayan and his girlfriend Jessica." I forced a smile and mouthed "hi" feeling awkward by Sawyer's treatment. Why was he treating me like we were some old bestfriends? I could feel annoyance pilling up in my body. Two days of meeting him and he was already finding his ways to crush my plan. The feeling of wanting to get up and move away was overwhelming when two other guys joined us round the table.
"Pretty girl am Evan," the guy with slightly mismatched eyes and brown skin muttered smiling to me while the moody one sitting next to him grumbled "am Adam," not paying attention to the frown on my lips to his disinterest.
"So you are Rowdey. Heard alot about you." Evan said making me narrow my eyes while Sawyer glared at him deadly.
"I mean heard that it's your second day friendship anniversary." Jessica busted into fits of laughter shaking her head."Second day friendship anniversary really? Not disappointed at your normal stupidity." Evan placed his hands to his chest saying
"Heartbroken that you mistake this charming man to be stupid." He rubbed an invisible tear from his cheek. This table was full of drama to say the least. I was already losing my mind as early as day two in this school.
"Girls and day dreams. You gave already slipped into your land?" I lifted my eyes to meet with those crystal blue ones filled with amusement and noticed the slight tug at his lips just like the first time I saw him shouting next to my locker.
"Am not daydreaming, am just quiet." I restricted the hint of annoyance in my voice but miserably failed. Now my level of dislike for this black haired guy was increasing not so slightly.
"Then you should start talking now that you intruded into our group." Evan received a smack on his head as he said that from Sawyer.
"I invited her bro. Do you have a problem with it? If yes I wont mind kicking your ass out of the cafeteria?" Evan raised his hands as a surrender.
I choked on my burger. The salad in it ran harshly down my throat and got stuck somewhere in my trachea resulting a painful cough. I mentally cursed remembering that I left my water bottle in my bag.
I was busy coughing unaware to the guy that moved out of his seat to hold my shoulders and offer me water. I greedily gulped down the water not paying attention to Sawyers usually cold hands on my shoulder. After I was relieved, I raised my head to mutter a thank you only to be hit with a concerned look on Sawyers face. Why the hell does he care? Was the question that wrapped around my mind. Shaking it off, I said "thanks for the water, forgot mine in my bag. I owe you water." I stood up heading to the canteen but was stopped by Adam. Talking for the first time, he said, "I got extra water for Jay but since he's not here I will give it to Green. No worry." I nodded but nonetheless was confused who Jay was. So many names on my first days making me wonder if I will even remember them.
"Okay thanks. I will be heading to class." Without waiting for an answer, I walked away to the washroom. Entering the ladies washroom for the first time since I stepped into Ridgemount high, I was met with a high wall to wall mirror reflecting me back.
I sauntered in to the booth like washroom to relieve myself and once done, I got out and washed my hands. I was drying my hands with tissue when a group of girls strolled.
"His blue eyes kills me. One gaze and am like melted icecream. You know he.." I stared back at the girl staring at me and a sense of recognition hit me. She was the Monicamolisa girl. She pursed her lips to say something but tightened her lips in change of mind. All the other girls(they were three of them) studied me.
"Hey pretty new girl." One of the girls said smugly looking at me. She was tall favoured by her heels. She had a model body and the clothe she wore did justice to her body. The tight ragged jeans and tank top clung to her marvelous body showing some of her skin. Any person hearing this will know that she wasn't saying that as a greeting but was trying to pick on me.I rolled my eyes and chuckled to myself audible for the girls to hear. I walked out on them sensing their confusion.
