Fridays were always the best days as it marked the end of school week and starting of weekend holidays. I was happy that I finally completed my one month in  school without problems and in peace.

I held the strap of my bag in my hand playing with it as I pushed through the people finding my way out of school. When I reached the pathway of the school, I heard someone call my name from distance. I turned around to catch a sight of Jessica smiling and hurriedly trying to catch up with me. I stood there waiting till she reached panting from the run.

"Oh my God! I have gained too much weight that running a meter has a become a problem." Jessica took a deep breath as I realized that running wasn't a thing for her since she was trying to catch her breath. It was the first time Jessica and I were conversing freely even though we sat at the same table during lunch. That's because she and Rayan were glued to each other and lost in their own world.

"Tomorrow are you free?" Jessica asked and I nodded my head. I was always free, emphasis on always. My weekend holidays consisted of me waking up late, making myself breakfast and eating, lazing around and watching a movie and closing the chapter with Tom and Jerry. During the night I would go for a walk and spend some time in my peace zone and call it end of my day.

"Why?" I wondered out loud while Jessica gave me a sweet smile;I guess the smile that whipped Rayan. I took a couple of seconds to admire her smile and if we were to earn by our smile, Jessica would be  a millionaire.

"Am going for shopping and wanted to know if you can tag along. Rayan and the guys are coming with me but you know only a girl can understand the choice of another girl." I nodded my head understanding, telling her that I would go with them. Hanging out with them wasn't a big deal anymore and I was adjusting to them even though I was too scared to fully accept them as my buddies.

"I will ask Sawyer to pick you up. Give me your number I will forward it to Sawyer and you can give him your address." She fished out her phone and added me into her contacts.

Waving a bye to Jessica, I boarded the bus and safely reached home. Entering the usual quiet house, I dropped my bag onto the sofa and entered the kitchen. Opening the fridge, I poured myself a glass of avocado juice gulping it greedily.
Once satisfied, I exited the kitchen and after getting my bag I went to my room throwing myself face first onto my bed that had caught cold due to my absence. The tiredness of the day was taking over as I felt my eyelids getting heavier. I soon drifted off to sleep.

I yawned pushing myself off the bed rubbing my eyes. I grabbed my phone to check the time. 6.p.m the clock displayed. I went into the washroom to have a quick warm shower.

Eight minutes of enjoying the warm body soothing shower, I threw on my clothes and brushed my hair making sure that it was in place. Throwing on a jacket when I noticed the drop in temperature, I wore my sneakers and headed out of the house to grab a coffee from the nearest cafe.

I was disappointed when I saw that there was a line of people waiting to be served making me the fifth person. Patience. It's a time like this when I realise that I lacked patience. However I pulled my phone out of my pockets and plugged in my earphone turning on a song in my playlist to distract me from the pain of waiting.

"Thanks." I said to the lady who served me when she returned my balance. Hold the plastic cup in my hand, I made my way out of the cafe.

"Ouch!" I winced in pain when the hot liquid mercilessly burnt my skin. I looked up at the old man, his wise hair announcing that his end was near. I stood  at the entrance of the cafe gazing at the man who blindly bumped into me causing my coffee to pour out a little on my skin.

"Am sorry dear. My glasses weren't clean and I couldn't see you well. Am so sorry." He apologized cleaning his glasses with the hem of his shirt.

"Is the burn serious? Are you ok?" I snapped my eyes from my hand when I heard familiar voice. Roy walked to stand close to me inspecting my hand.

"Am fine. It's no big deal." I said to the old man stepping out of his way. I turned my attention back to Roy when the old man went inside.

"Never thought that I will meet you." Roy said as we both stepped out of the entrance.

"Never thought too. Are you done from the cafe?" I questioned.

"No. Was about to enter when I saw you." He spoke staring at the dog that encircled him. He bend his knees to pet the dog.

"Wait me here, I just want to grab tea. Will be back shortly." He rushed in without giving me the chance to say something.
After three minutes, he was back holding the same plastic cup as mine.

"So I should guess, you live around here?" I nodded as we slowly walked side by side. "You gotta be kidding me honey." I chuckled knowing that he often used the word honey on anyone.

"I live near the yellow factory. House number 324." I spoke nonchalantly. Roy's eyes widen as he took in the information.

"You mean it. Wow! We are neighbours and I wonder why I haven't seen you around. I live in house number 329. Just five blocks next to yours." He said enthusiastically.

We walked conversing here and there, Roy talking about his interest in basketball and gym. I wasn't surprised since his physical build confirmed him. We stopped infront of my house and Roy leaned to give me a goodbye hug. I was getting used to his hugs since everytime we walked out of chemistry class (the only class we shared) he would hug me.

"See you. Hope we will be meeting often since we are neighbours now." He smiled sweetly while I nodded and smiled back.

Watching Roy walking out of my sight, his back facing me, I couldn't help thinking that Roy was a nice guy. He was a joyous and kind person. But then so were everyone I sat with during lunch.

Maybe making friends wasn't a bad idea as long as I won't let them be so close to me to an extent of hurting them and myself.
