𝘼𝙧𝙙𝙤𝙧 ~ 𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡

It had only been a week since the Embry incident when Jake stopped talking to us. I felt more than betrayed because he knew how much I had been hurting since Embry started ignoring me. It all started the night Bella went to the cinema with Jake and Mike and described how they both fell ill but Jake seemed worse off with his body getting extremely hot extremely fast for no apparent reason. In my head I connected Embry and Jake through this mysterious fever like illness. Running through all rational reasons in my head but none of them seemed to fit the situation quite right.

We only had eachother now, Bella and I, but that was enough for me. The weeks that followed Jake's disappearance from our lives were tough but we managed it. I could see the toll it was taking on her and I refused to watch her slip into the same depression she had when Edward left her. We tried our best to keep occupied and didn't allow ourselves to think about the boys. I still went down to La Push beach to swim because I loved the feeling of the waves on my skin but I only went down when I saw nobody else on the beach.

"Hey you fancy a hike" Bella asked as she threw herself onto my bed, "Um sure why not. Where to" I replied. She gave me a loose answer about some place not to far from Forks. We packed a picnic and hopped in the truck. Shortly after driving for about 30 minutes the start of the trail was in sight. We started off at a fast pace but soon slowed down as the walking trail stopped and the route became littered with branches and brambles. Bella insisted we carry on and I sensed she had a particular reason for this hike. Along the way the trees had blocked out most of the light so it was a shock when we came upon a breathtaking meadow and the light broke through the treetops to shine down on us. I stood taking in every angle trying to soak up the beauty and I was captivated entirely . The flowers dotted around in the grass added bursts of colour and the small sounds of wildlife truly brought the meadow to life. It was a mesmerising sight to say the least.

A mans sharp voice suddenly snapped me out of my daydream. He was standing about 30 meters away and his dark skin contrasted beautifully with the bright green pasture he stood in. He had thick dreadlocks that came down past his shoulders and his glowing red eyes were certainly a standout feature. His ethereal beauty matched the meadow but in a different way. His presence felt like a negative energy. He instantly came towards us at inhuman speed stopping just in front of me close enough that I could feel his cool breath on my skin. I shivered and I felt my happiness slowly fade away. Every inch of my body was telling me to run as fast as I could but I felt paralysed by his presence. "What do you want Laurent" Bella quietly spoke and I was confused- did Bella know this man? He ignored her question, "I've noticed the Cullens house is empty and their scent is fading " he began "They seem to have left you behind though Odd. Weren't you their little pet" "Something like that" Bella muttered. "Well it doesn't matter now. I've only come to give you a warning from Victoria. Edward killed her mate so she thinks it's only fair to do the same. I feel my appetite has increased with the intoxicating smell of you two lovely girls and I think I'll have a snack" and with those creepy and hostile words he grabbed me and spun me so my back was pressed against his chest and he pulled back my hair from my neck.

I could barely let out a world never mind a scream and I stood in his grasp defenceless. "Bella GO NOW" I yelled at her with my last ounces of courage, hoping she would make it far enough away but she didn't move much to my despair. Suddenly a great black wolf burst from the tree line and stood flanked by at least 4 other wolves of varying colours. They were snarling and staring directly at Laurent's body with what seemed to be disgust. I didn't feel threatened by their presence, instead I felt comforted. I looked into each of their eyes pausing at a wolf with a silvery coat, feeling a strange pull to be near it.

Embry pov:
My heart sank in fear as I saw her standing in the arms of the leech. Luci was defenceless, probably unaware of the type of creature that now held her so tightly. Her expression was fearful until she looked at the pack. She brushed her eyes up at us and the moment she met my gaze my whole world changed. Suddenly nothing else mattered in the world it was just her. Gravity wasn't holding me to the earth she was. She moved I moved, everything else became secondary. I would be do anything, be anything she wanted, a friend, brother, protector, lover. All I needed to survive was her. I had to be near her. All of those thoughts lasted a mere few seconds and the reality of the situation sank in. I had just imprinted. "Aw for God sake not Embry too" Jared groaned mentally seeing my thoughts through our mind link. "Embry wait" Sam boomed "We have to wait for the right moment... NOW".

We all launched forward just as Laurent bit her neck and dragged his razor sharp nails down her chest leaving her crippled over in pain. Her pain was mine and I felt it's deepness. Without hesitation I dove forward and ripped the leech's arm clean off tearing in to shreds immediately before glancing back at Luci slumped on the ground and then continuing on the chase because I had to destroy the thing that harmed her.

We caught him and tore him apart after a long chase with Jared switching to human form to burn the pieces before quickly phasing back. "Embry I need you to go leave. Right now there is no use in revealing the secret while she is in that state she won't understand" Sam instructed to me while I bitterly obeyed him by turning around and leaving the area.

Luci pov:
I looked up and saw Bella frantically leaning over me, worry etched all over her face. Blood was soaking my top and the smell made my head spin. I felt my neck and felt the beginnings of a scar forming. I was so confused at what had happened and if it was all real or if I had imagined it. Bella looked me straight in the eye, "When we get home I have some explaining to do ok" I only nodded in reply. She helped support me as we made the long journey back to the truck. I stumbled so much that my shirt was almost ripped clean due to the already frayed material due to the events that just occurred. Bella aided my climb into the truck and then quickly started the engine.

On the way home we passed Embry running on the road and I told Bella to stop the truck. All I wanted was comfort in the moment and I knew he could provide that. I leapt from the barely stopped truck and ran up to him crashing against his chest as he turned in response to me calling his name. Relief and comfort washed over me as he wrapped his arms around me an held me. "Why did you leave me" I sobbed into him, my emotions were raging due to everything I had just been through. "I didn't want to but I had to keep you safe. I can't explain right now but I will really soon" he murmured. He pressed a kiss into my hair and I never needed wanted anything more than to stay in his arms forever. My previous anger at him abandoning me was impossible to remember because I felt so secure and happy with him. Bella honked the horn interrupting our moment and I sighed. "I have to go" I whispered bringing my head up to look into his eyes "I know. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon Luci ok I'm back for good this time" he told me, his voice heavy with sincerity. "When will I see you again" "Keep your window open tonight ok and I'll see what I can do" He mumbled into my hair. Reluctantly I let him go and headed back to the truck only now noticing my blood was spread across Embry's chest. Noticing my worry he gave me a small smile of reassurance that he didn't mind and that was all I needed. I stepped back into the truck and lay my head against the window closing my eyes...

This chapter was such a pain to write but at least it's done now I guess. Hopefully you enjoyed their reunion and you'll stick around for the rest of their story...
