hey guys. I hope you liked the first chapter. I know a lot of people have done this already, but I just wanted to try it out.
Aiden POV
"you okay?" Aru asked me. I glanced away from her quickly before she could scan the rest of my face. No, I was not okay, but I didn't say that out loud, instead, I told her," Yeah, Kinda wish I'd had Agni's eternal memory stick before now. I could've used it at home.
" Oh, for like ...taking pictures of stuff around the house?" Aru's voice had a touch of concern in it.
" Yeah" I confirmed," my parents, we used to have a lot of family photos, but mom put them away. I don't know where. "
Agni's words still rang in my mind when he mentioned my mom. hope it was worth it for her. my nightmares were still fresh in my mind. I often wondered what if it was because of me my parents split up. or maybe because of me, my mother couldn't get to be a part of the world she grew up in. maybe because of me my mother--
" Aiden?" the sound of Aru's voice interrupted my thoughts. I tore my eyes from Shadowfax and turned to look at Aru. " Yeah?"
"Are you okay? Like, really okay? It's fine if you're not...?" I was reluctant to tell her, but hearing the concern in her voice made me change my mind. It wasn't fair to make her worry. I took a deep breath and told her," It's my mom... What if she regrets her life? She gave up everything for my dad. And then he leaves her to marry a girlfriend he met while he was still with my mom. And-- I felt my voice break. it took me a moment to speak again," What'd she get out of it?" Aru put her hand on my shoulder.
" You " and I knew that Aru meant it with all her heart when she said," And she'd say you're worth it" I really looked at her then. Her eyes sparkled with humour and mischief, but I could see the wisdom and intelligence lurking beneath. She had a smug smirk on her face as usual but the way she looked at me made me feel reassured, happy even. Vajra's light cast a celestial glow on her face, making her look truly majestic. it was like looking at her in a different light, really noticing her true self. my lips formed the words on their own and I blurted out," I like you, Shah" Aru's eyebrows shot up and I realized what I had said. I panicked," But not like uh--" " Like friends" Aru finished for me, though I noticed her voice sounded a touch too bright. " Yeah," I said." like friends" Aru looked away for a second but when she looked back at me there was that playful gleam in her eye again, the one she makes just before she's about to make a sarcastic remark or about to do some prank," just so you know, "she said, " being friends with me means that on Wednesdays we wear pink" I sighed and rolled my eyes, though I felt something flutter inside me. like butterflies taking wing. it was weird, but not exactly unpleasant. I wonder what it could be.
