Thirty Four: Not a Good Story

"Are you the kind of person who gives second chances, Ms. Rosé?"

Tanong sa akin ng interviewer ng Flex Magazine. She's Heidi, she interviews known people in the industry and publishes it in their magazine.

"Uh, Hahaha. That depends on the person. Because I believe that you do not just deserve a second chance. You have to earn it to deserve it."

She nodded her head.

"Wow, that's a different outlook. It's fresh."

I smiled and thanked her.

"So, the goss is, you are with the bachelor Hunter Hilburn, Is it true?"

Natawa ako ng bahagya.

"No. We're really good friends. The truth is, I am single and happily single. I'm way too busy with work nowadays and sometimes I forget to eat. So I have no time for dating right now, Heidi."

Tatawa tawa kong sagot sakanya. Nanlaki ang mga mata nya like she's saying that this is interesting.

"Oooh, if you forget to eat sometimes maybe it's time to have someone that will constantly remind you to eat"

We both laughed.

"No, I'm not ready for a relationship right now."

Nang matapos ang interview ay agad akong nag pasalamat at nag paalam sa kanila para umuwi. I cannot stop repeating it in my head. I felt like it was her. Yung tindig nya, yung bulto nya, I don't know. Bakit ko nararamdaman yung tibok ng puso ko kanina when I saw that woman. I wanted to run and see if it is her, pero masyadong maraming tao and I cannot let anyone about my private life and issues.

Napalingon ako sa phone ko nang makita kong tumatawag ang manager ko.

"How did it go?"

Tanong nya sa kabilang linya.

"Good. Smooth. I'm tired, actually, can we talk tomorrow? I want to go to sleep."

I fake-yawn para lang tantanan nya muna ako ngayong gabi. Humiga ako sa kama ko at nagisip.

"Simula nang dumating ako dito, pinilit ko nang kalimutan ka, Raine. Pinilit kong wag ka nang isipin pa. Ayoko nang isipin ka pa. Why can't I move on?"

Tanong ko sa kisame. Napaupo ako mula sa pagkakahiga. My heart beats so fast everytime I think about that split-second memory earlier at the mall. Ikinulong ko ang mukha ko sa palad ko sa sobrang pamomroblema.

I took my phone at dumapa sa kama. Kumuha ako ng isang unan at niyakap ito. Thinking about Lorraine. If I'm going to search for her social media accounts and such. I want to know how she's doing.

I got interrupted nang tumawag sa akin si Arthur.

"Hey what's up?"

Bumangon ako mula sa pagkakadapa at umupo.

"Nothing. Mum is asking if you're okay. Just wanna check up on you."

I smiled. Pamilya ko na talaga sila. Pinaparamdam nila sa akin na pamilya ako, that I am one of them. Kaya ayoko nang bumalik sa Pilipinas dahil mag isa lang ako doon, at masasakit na ala-ala pa ang naranasan ko doon.

"I'm doing good. Actually, I'm just pretty tired. How is she? How are you guys?"

"Same. Still good. Oh, by the way, I wanna tell you that Leslie is coming to visit. So I need you to be here in mind and soul. Okay? Come home. We miss you."

I chuckled nang marinig ko ang sinabi ni Arthur.

"Okay, yeah. Just tell me when and until when, and I'll take a leave."
