Chapter 15: Espio Confesses his Feelings (Last Part of Thanksgiving Special)

After Blake's defeat, Destinee grew tired as she was turning back to normal. As she did so, she fell from the sky and she was almost at the ground when Espio ran and caught her in his arms. Her eyes fluttered open to see him.

When her vision became clear, she asked him, "W-What... happened?".

He smiled at her,"Don't worry, Destinee. We've won".

"Y-You mean...", she trailed off as he nodded in response, both of them knowing what it meant: "the prophecy of the Wallflower Ninja was fulfilled".

He placed her down gently allowing her to get up. But what about the others? Well, we're about to find out.

While Espio headed off to retrieve his weapons, Destinee looked at the others to see them still lying on the ground. She closed her eyes to feel the power, but it seemed that it was transferred back to the Golden Dragon statue. She opened her eyes and looked carefully for it only to find that it was near her feet the whole time. She picked it up and used some of its power to restore everyone to life.

After that, they're overjoyed to see her alive again.

"Destinee!", those who were happy said as they ran to hug her.

As for Shadow, he walked to her with Runa with a smile on his face, meaning she'd done a great job fulfilling the prophecy. But that doesn't mean he would cheat on Runa. He still loved her.

Amy hugged her happy to see her again,"Destinee! You're alive! You've had us worried for a while!".

She hugged her back saying,"Don't worry, Amy. I'm fine".

Then, they parted away, only to be hugged by some other friends especially Tails and the Chaotix. Sonic wrapped his arms around her shoulder congratulating her for fulfilling the prophecy and she smiled thankfully. After a while, Espio walked back to them and told them about the prophecy being fulfilled. Almost all cheered in happiness while others smiled like they're proud of Destinee.

Later on...

It was a Thanksgiving do-over and everyone gathered around at the table and ate the rest of the dinner together. A while later, Sonic had something to say to the others.

"Before I announce what we're all thankful for, I just wanna greet you all a happy Thanksgiving. It was a great honor to have friends like you guys. And now, let's all thank Destinee for all that she can to fulfill the prophecy of the Wallflower Ninja with a toast", he announced as they all (except Destinee) held up a wine glass of water,"Okay, everybody. To Destinee, the Wallflower Ninja".

"To Destinee, the Wallflower Ninja", others except Destinee repeated as they all toasted and drank water.

While doing so, Destinee rephrased it,"Thanks for your appreciation, but you don't need to thank me. I would like to thank all of you for helping me fulfill the prophecy especially the very first person I met since I lost my family".

As she said this, she looked at Espio and reached her hand to his causing him to blush slightly. Some of them (especially the girls) awed at the moment while others smiled at it.

After everyone ate dinner and they're still enjoying Thanksgiving, Espio turned to Destinee and asked her,"Destinee, do you mind if we could talk in private?".

"Sure", she answered as they both stood up from their chairs and headed over to someplace private.

Vector, Charmy and Sonic snickered about it, the girls teased Destinee while others smirked about it. They all knew what it meant.

With Espio and Destinee, they headed over to the grassy hill where they first met. There, they stood on top of the hill with Destinee being surprised.

"This is where we first met", she said recalling it, then she looked at Espio,"But why did you bring me here?".

That's when Espio looked at her and a moment later, gave her the element of surprise. And that element of surprise... was kissing her. Her eyes widened shocked as his lips pressed against hers. Once she finally felt what love feels like, she kissed him back. Her right hand cupped his cheek and she wrapped her left arm around his shoulder. Same goes with Espio, but vice versa and his right arm was wrapped around her waist.

The kiss lasted until they pulled away for breath.

"Does that answer your question?", Espio asked her.

She nodded in response not knowing what to say.

"Ever since I first saw you, I'm very impressed with your ninja skills and when we first got along, I started to gain strong feelings for you, so today, I want ask you...", he said as he paused for an effect as he caressed her right arm,"...if you want to be my girlfriend".

Now, it's Destinee's turn to give him the element of surprise: "a kiss on his cheek". This shocked him and his cheeks went red.

After that, she said,"I'd love to be your girlfriend, Espio. After all...".

Then, they started stargazing with Espio's left arm wrapped around her shoulder.

"...I never could've done anything without you".

After a while of stargazing, he said to her,"Happy Thanksgiving, Destinee".

"Happy Thanksgiving, Espio", she replied as they both smiled warmly at each other and continued stargazing and also viewing nature right in front of them.
