Define your waist

It's a good idea to define your waist if you want to look somewhat slimmer, and I don't know why I didn't mention this in my ebook earlier.

Having a small, well-defined waist will instantly make you look slimmer and more feminine. (How amazing is that?!) So in this chapter, I am going to be sharing with you all of the ways that you can define your waist in order to make yourself look slimmer. Sound like a plan?

The first and foremost way to define your waist is by using waist belts.
Waist belts are a pretty simple accessory that you can add to practically any outfit and still make it look good.
Try experimenting with both large and small belts to see which one best suits you the most and to see what they both look like on your body. But just know that big belts might not always work for you: sometimes they might suit you really well and other times they might look odd, depending on your outfit that day, and the same goes for smaller belts.

So just experiment with different types of belts to see which ones work the best for you. I promise that once you see the benefits of waist belts, you'll never style an outfit without one again!

Off-the shoulder garments. This style will naturally make your waist look smaller, so you don't need to try hard.
Just make sure to choose flattering styles and colours, and don't go overboard on accessories.

Having a blazer that's tailored specially for women and your personal body shape and build will make your waist look smaller as it's made to fit your body perfectly.
And you get bonus points if your blazer has a wrap or a belt that cinches the waist.

Try experimenting with wide-leg pants, even if you haven't got any experience with them. The massive amount of leg room will define your waist in a rather smart way. Especially when paired with a top or shirt that naturally draws attention to your small waist.
Wide-leg pants may not be your thing, but at least give it a shot. There's nothing wrong with trying.

When trying to create a smaller waist, high-waisted garments will become your best friend.
Try wearing high-waisted skirts or jeans, especially ones that are really high and reach above your belly button so that you are drawing the eye to the smallest part of your torso, (which naturally should be your waistline.)
High-waisted things are also better than medium or low-waisted because they tend to hide more unwanted fat.

Sheath dresses with panelled sides are a very clever way of drawing the right kind of attention to your waist. This fashion trick draws the eye to the middle of your torso and it makes the area seem a lot smaller by creating the hourglass shape that you've always dreamed of having. (But remember: every body shape is beautiful. I'm clearly mentioning the hourglass shape above every other because that's the shape that gets the most attention and is considered to be the most "feminine", but every body shape is beautiful, in my opinion.)

Like I mentioned in the last chapter, (and won't go into too much detail since it's already been covered) peplums.
Peplums are great for defining your waist and bringing out the hourglass figure in any shape. So it's worth a shot!

An obvious one for making your waist look more defined is by wearing tops, jackets, coats, etc. that have wraps or belts because they cinch and draw the right attention to the waist.
Make sure that you pick a style in your colour, shape and one to suit your personal style. It would be completely pointless if you just purchased an item of clothing because it makes you look thinner, when you don't like it.

A simple yet effective trick to drawing attention to the waist and making it look smaller is by wearing a well-fitted print skirt or trousers with a plain shirt. Printed fabrics often make the person wearing it look voluminous, so when paired with a plain skirt, you are creating a more slimming effect around the waist area.

You can include your wrists and fingers by adding jewellery to them. Especially because your arms lie at either side of your waist, so it's good to feature them.
But only work with one wrist at a time, because you don't want to end up drawing a horizontal line across your waist, which will ultimately make it look larger in proportion.
So if you want to wear multiple bracelets or bangles in one outfit, stack them on one arm.

And my last word of advice for making your waist look more defined through your choice of clothing, is to avoid anything boxy, unless you use a secure belt that significantly draws in the waistline. Because boxy clothes make everything appear slightly larger, so at least with a secure waist-belt, your waist will look slightly smaller.
