Tailors are people who sew, join, reinforce or alter clothing or other items. They do this to fit their client's desires and needs. They are very clever people.

But why should you befriend your local tailor?

The most simplest answer that I can give to you is that when you befriend a tailor: you gain both the knowledge and even experience of a master crafts person, therefore you will be able to pick up some helpful tips for the future when you are out shopping for new clothes or if you know that you are going to be gifted a sewing machine this Christmas.

But there are actually many more reasons to befriend your local tailor: all of them being good reasons.

Every person out there with great fashion sense, has befriended their local tailor....if not more! So keep up with all of those fashion-thrived people and be a step ahead of your non-fashionable peers by befriending your neighbourhood tailor.

Not only does a tailor help you to look slimmer by nature, but they also help you look more put together and professional.
Even if you are the most fashion savvy person out there, tailors still know their way round meeting their client's needs, so if you go to them and politely ask them if they can alter your clothes to make you look better: they're going to do it for you, (and make a good job of it too!)
And even if you are into styling, designing and all of that other fashion-related stuff....the tailors are the experts in the sense that they know how to alter clothes to fit a person rather than making a person fit their clothes.

I think that one of the best parts about befriending a tailor is that you can openly chat and discuss with them about your insecurities in a comfortable manner.
It can be tricky opening up to people at times, especially people who aren't professional counsellors or people who aren't a close member of the family. That's why building a strong relationship and connection with your local tailor is really beneficial: you can open up to them, talk about your insecurities and what you'd like to achieve through your style, and they can get a better insight into your visual goal so that they can create it for you, the best that they can.
When your tailor knows about your insecurities and deepest fears, they can alter your clothes to meet your specific needs and they can even mention fashion tips to make you feel more comfortable in public and with different types of clothing.

Good, (and I cannot stress the "good" part enough) tailors know all the fashion trends in-and-out, like the back of their hand, so if you are too lazy or too busy to learn and keep up-to-date with all the latest fashion trends, your tailor can help you out there.
It's a tailor's job to keep up-to-date on all the fashion trends, upcoming trends and everything else, so if you befriend a tailor: be prepared for a constant update on all of the latest trends.
